Thanks, I never stopped updating the tracker.

With the new projections on the lack of truly asymptomatic cases, we should see a drastic revision upwards in the IFR.
Maybe something above 1%?
Maybe something above 1%?

I've been surprised that the mortality rate hasn't fallen below 1.5% yet. You may be right that it could end up at or above 1% when the history of COVID is written.

Thanks for restarting this thread, Chrom. Appreciate your labors and talents. All the same, hope it doesn't have to live all that much longer.

Gotta keep those numbers high so that Dementia Joe can be the big savior!

I hear you, when I started this I had no anticipation of still doing it almost a year later. I started it on March 6th, exactly 9 months ago.

I saw some stuff that indicates that 1) less than 20% of cases are truly asymptomatic.
If that’s the case (and we should have enough data to know that by now), the IFR is probably closer to 1.2-1.3%.
And 2) asymptomatic cases are between 3X-25X less likely to spread the virus. Which means that, by my rough math, somewhere between 92% and 99% of Covid cases are spread through symptomatic or pre-symptomatic patients.
But the asymptomatic narrative is what is driving government control over us, so I don’t see it going away. No matter what the science says.

How is your facility holding up?
Posted on 1/7/21 at 12:32 pm to Chromdome35
Lots of Covid. No flu.
Bed availability as a region is maybe slightly higher than I would expect. We have 24% of ICU available and 28% of inpatient beds available.
Deaths up slightly versus a month ago for the state. Maybe up 3 or so per day. Positivity rate is so ridiculously high that it makes you question it (20.5%).
