New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) has taken hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations for his reelection campaign from his own political appointees, The New York Times reported Saturday.
The Times reports that Cuomo has taken nearly $900,000 from two dozen of his appointees since taking office, as well as at least $1.3 million from spouses, children and businesses of the appointees.
According to the newspaper, the total direct and indirect donations from 37 of Cuomo's appointees dating back to 2011 came to $2.2 million. Those appointees had given another $2.2 million to the Cuomo campaign before their appointments.

The donations come despite an executive order signed by Cuomo's predecessor, Gov. Eliot Spitzer (D), banning campaign donations from most political appointees in the state. Cuomo renewed that order when he entered office.
Cuomo has reinterpreted the directive, according to the newspaper, to only govern donations from appointees who could be fired at any time by the governor, as opposed to those appointed to set terms in office. LINK

He's literally on governor because of his dad. He's running for a third term. God help New York.

Leftists have no ethics so this won’t hurt him at all

The only reason NY is liberal is because of NYC.
I have always said it needs to become its own state, as the rest of the state is not nearly as liberal as the city is.
That said, Cuomo has the state wrapped around his finger.

What does "campaign funds" really mean to a pol?
I mean it's not like they can buy a house or a personal car with campaign funds, right?
Can they use them for lavish hotels while traveling for "work"? Lavish meals?
Does usage of campaign funds have to be reported?

Will his brother on CNN tell everyone to ignore the raw data and just listen to the coverage from experts like himself instead?

I thought this was a guy considering throwing his hat in for the Presidential candidacy. That'd be awesome with fodder like this.

This guy is starting to look dirtier than Spitzer. That takes some effort.

This is about as obvious of a requirement that should be in place as the STOCK Act was for Congress before they passed it.
Should be illegal to donate to the person who appointed you, or require absolute transparency and limit the amounts.

This is how the game is played. Politics as usual. This is just more blatant because it can be tracked in campaign reports. Both parties do this. GOP usual does it a little sneakier. It is done thru lobbyists and other slimy players paying the elected officials wife or family for a "marketing" business. Sometimes it's campaign money and sometimes it's paymemt to shell companies. How do you think politicians go into office middle class and end up millionaires?
