I'm a Cuomo fan, but he comes of very narrow minded by saying conservative republicans have no place in NY. It's an incredibly arrogant statement.

quote:In fairness to the direction of his quote, he specifically said that the people who oppose abortion rights, assault rifle bans, and gays have no place in New York. While it is reasonable to say that if you oppose abortion rights and are anti-gay, then you have no place in this country, I question the reasonability of the mentioning of assault weapons because I see that movement on the left as dishonest, manipulative, and too far left for my liking.

I'm a gay rights supporter, pro choice supporter but believe in the 2nd amendment. Would I need to move from NY? IF I was an anti abortion supporter but fell on HIS side of the issue on guns and gay rights would that still not be good enough?
If I'm on his side on 2/3 issues, this isn't sufficient to Cuomo?
It's why it's an extremely arrogant statement. Other liberals should denounce his statement as well.

I agree with you pretty much.

Texas leaders say these kinds of divisive things about liberals all the time and y'all cheer them on. How is this any different other than you don't agree with the view?

You consider that reasonable to say?

You cannot be serious. It's reasonable to say that if you have a disagreement on a particular topic, no matter the reason, you should not be allowed in this country?
WTH are you to decide whether someone should be in this country? Do you even realize how totalitarian that sounds?

Elections work in two lanes of traffic, and Cuomo is the one saying they do not. Conservatives need not apply or any job that is decided by votes according the one of the Demons Uber-liberals.

I think what is more important, is that the Governor of a state said this.
Though as I mentioned earlier, this is no different than what Barack Obama has said.
No GOP governor or president would be allowed to get away with saying those things.
Will be interesting to see if there is any blowback on this.

Nice of you to place the rights and freedoms of those with who you disagree with as being equal to them being a lower form of citizens than you and your like minded friends. GFY.

If you oppose the Constitutional rights of others, then maybe you're better off somewhere else.

It is interesting that TV and film companies never complained (legally or just publicly) about VCRs....they almost encouraged taping shows as long as you didn't sell them. Heck, they even market machines now as being capable of bypassing commercials, and they don't do anything about that.
He also did specifically say that conservatives weren't welcome. It was in the same paragraph / topic as the above, but as a former resident of 14 years who literally moved 3 months ago I can tell you that what he really mean is that they aren't welcome.
Liberals in NYC have gone full retard and will likely push more moderate democrats the other way. That's my prediction anyways.

quote:He was even more specific than that, actually. He talked about what he views to be the most radical right of the conservative population, and everybody in this thread has chosen to overreact to it and say that Cuomo--frick him and his shitty agenda, by the way--thinks that Republicans should be banned from the state. It's silly.

Above my OP is a direct quote from you, not some fantasy BS made up by me, YOUR WORDS and nothing but your words. If you don't like them then don't type them.
