For that single day?
Yeah, that doesn’t mean anything.
Cancer has killed ~166,000 so far this year.

I was curious to where they got those numbers, because I searched for death in the US stats a few days ago and could not find anything. I found their explanation and while I understand their rationale I expect "other causes of death" to regress in 2020.
quote:
The animation compares the daily death count of COVID-19, as tracked by worldometers.info, to 2018 data from the National Center for Health Statistics. The organization’s numbers show that heart disease and cancer were by far the biggest killers in the U.S. in 2018, with 647,457 and 599,108 deaths, respectively. Extrapolating those totals to a daily number show 1,774 daily deaths from heat disease and 1,641 from cancer.

That's just plain wrong.
You can hash that math out however you want. That's inaccurate.

it's true from a single-day perspective.
650,000/year = 1780/day
as 808 says though, it's not a particularly useful statistic. but it would be a factual statement if you qualify "for that day"
the tweet in question is grossly inaccurate

I don't know who that is, but I think his facts are a little wrong...

Exactly, it isn't factual and accurate.

That doesn't make any sense, Tiguar. Cancer has already killed more than 100,000 this year and blows China Flu out of the water.

BS, fear mongering.
