Ignoring the fact of that statement being a non sequitur, what are you basing that claim on?

Which claim? That you can find non-meat alternatives for nutrients one might obtain from eating meat?

I mean it is an objective fact

Give me an example of an essential vitamin & nutrient only found in meat and I'll provide an alternative.

I don’t have a crystal ball. No way to know. One way to predict it might be to extrapolate the arc of the cases curve out based on China’s curve once it started bending (assuming our curve ends up being similar) then take 1% of that number.

Maybe someone with more time than me can to do it.

How was it determined that the parents weren't feeding the baby vs the baby refusing the food?

How about the comparative reaction to the seasonal flu?

Does what happened in Wuhan and whats happening in Italy compare at all to the seasonal flu? I am asking because the seasonal flu happens every year, and general runs wild, and hospitals don't overflow with people who need respirators, and supplemental oxygen to treat the flu. And that happening even while those places treat this more like the black plague than the common cold.

Genetics influence risk for heart disease....hence a strong need to take measures to reduce it.

Reduce it in those that are genetically predisposed to heart disease?

What do these "strong measures" consist of? Making someone change their diet? How would these "strong measures" be enforced?

2 - 4 % = China Flu kill rate

If you don't know or understand the difference and the implications you need to talk to a person who does.

Thats nice.

Go on record. Stand up with your fears.
How many deaths in the US are you fearing will manifest in the next 2 months?

How many deaths from the seasonal flu?

Ballpark.

It clearly states a strong need to take measures. A little googling will answer most, if not all, of your questions.

As a life long conservative I am so tired of hearing from the right comparing this to flu. IT IS NOT FLU! This is a novel virus, first time ever seen. No one knows what the mortality rate would be if allowed to flow unimpeded throughout the population.

No..that a healthier diet is one without meat or dairy.
Your observation that alternatives can be found is only relevant to someone looking for those alternatives.

Your fear is based on feelings.
How many do you feel there will be? What number, if reported, would you think..."That doesn't surprise me at all."?

To get panic down, you need to have more data - about community prevalence, who gets more severe illness & why, what you might do to treat.

They're obviously doing the research in clinical treatment. As for prevalence, I suppose you could either test a helluva lot more or run natural experiments in localities (which seems like will be the de facto approach) at running social atoms back out there at each other and try to infer the community prevalence from clinical populations, but the latter doesn't seem as ethical as it comes at an awful lot of risk to our seniors.

Fair enough!
Maybe no immunity has been built up..but the ones sick and recovered will have that for next year?
That said, how many are dying vs the seasonal flu?
How much of this is a hysterical, fear based over reaction?
Lifes a bitchh

Why?
Again...what do you imagine these "strong measures" to change peoples diets would consist of?
Be specific.

The only thing that is being compared to the seasonal flu is the number of deaths and the seeming disproportional and hysterical reaction to it.

How many deaths do you think we will see in the US in the next 2 months?

They are not strong measures. Reducing your intake of saturated fat, trans fat, sugar, and combining that with increasing your intake of foods high in fiber is simply one way to reduce your risk, per the CDC.
