You'd think these people would know know viral transmission works.
It was either from an infected person, or a surface contaminated by an infected person.

The article might be more interesting if it told you where in CA
It might be of interest to know if this is some rural isolated case or if the person lives somewhere like Long Beach where it could be a real problem

The had direct contact with someone that had it. They might not have known they had it. But they had direct contact with them.

It will most likely start in California. A coastal state with a relatively high Asian population and international airports.
