In the first debate, Dems were orgasmic when he said, “come on, man.” He was coached by his handlers to say “come on” last night because of this supposedly winning catch phrase. Unfortunately for him, he kept saying it and it made him look more demented mumbling it over and over again.

- c'mon man
- here is the deal
- look
- malarkey

Those are his go to phrases when he has lost his thoughts and/or has no way of countering.... its a delay tactic.

What you are watching is a 77 year old going on 87.

Thankfully there isn't a third because at that rate his phrase would be simply come.

Also, “in fact” is frequently inserted. Or “the fact is”.

Don't forget the stupid assed guffawing he does when he's really getting hit hard.

If a dem says "let me be clear", expect whatever they say next to be muddy.

Trump's mocking evisceration of that ridiculous "kitchen table" trope he loves to trot out was one of my favorite parts of last night.

I agree. I was kind of hoping Trump would say something like 'if you're president Joe, people won't be able to afford a kitchen table'.

When he says "look", my ears perk up. You know something good is coming.

When he got lost trying to think up Giuliani's name was classic.

uh, I am not going to say his name, oh, Guiliani.

That is a mind that has poor indexes.

No telling how many hundreds of thousands of political donation dollars were spent on focus groups, just to land on the public's perception of "come on, man!"

It would probably make the average person sick to know how much was spent on figuring out if it was a winning or losing phrase, consisting of all of 3 words

Would like to know who the Scientists are. Slow Joe is always referring to them being some hive minded group that will guide him through the COVID recovery.

Those were his go to phrases when he was courting the middle-age / retired vote when he was running for office decades ago.
They are embedded in his head.
He still thinks they are relevant, but make him "sound" a lot older than 77 and out of touch.
My dad and FIL are up to 80 and I never heard them say those phrases, nor keen, swell, or bee-knees.

Sometimes you get the combos as well, push X+X+Y (look + here's the deal)

look (short pause) here's the deal (long pause)

That's what he's doing. He's basically begging for people to agree with him or for the moderator to save him.
