quote:Yes, because those people are not the kind of people that are going to make this state better. Housing prices are temporarily going up because of a huge increase in demand over the past few years as more leftists move here from their former states that they've ruined with their bad policies. Once they enact the same policies here, it will drive more people out of this state (Conservatives and moderates at first, then the leftists who can't stand up under the weight of their own political ideology put into action).
So housing prices, an indicator of affluence, are going up.....but you knock the people responsible for it?
quote:Oh we're getting our fair share of homeless druggies who are here for the legalized pot. But what's happening is that people who lived in small homes on the coast are selling them, making bank, and putting that money into bigger homes here. These people aren't necessarily affluent, just taking advantage of their situations in one state and using it for their benefit in another.
The reason that housing prices are up is because smart and well educated people are moving in. If ghetto people were moving in, you think prices would be going up?
Just for the record, I'd take poor Conservatives over affluent leftists any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Does someone in his family own a paper bag company?

What part of Colorado do you live?

Not sure where you live but I am glad I didn't just arrive in CO. Been here since 1988 and moved to Golden. At that time, you could afford a house and everything was a nice small town feel. Fast forward to current and this place has turned into the biggest shite show of west coasters, hipsters and leftists.
I have a historic house in one of the districts we bought and rehabbed 10+ yrs ago and I would be pressed to afford it now. Golden is just a microcosm of what CO is trying to do with housing. They keep yelling about "affordable" housing and continue to want to push low rent/income housing down our throats when there is no such thing as "affordable" housing in this area. Maybe down in Aurora or further out east but not in the smaller communities.
There is no slow down at all in housing prices here. None. In fact, there are 4 new townhouse going up immediately behind my place that will start in the $800's. No yard, shared wall, etc. Not sure how much longer I can hold out.
I don't think this tax will pass by the way. There are still a few people around here with common sense.

If they would start charging 25 cents per plastic bag here in Houston, I would just spend that money on a Mexican to carry my groceries in his arms. Saving the environment!

Didn't these assholes cause the move away from paper a long time ago?

What heathen house doesn't have reusable bags today? I don't want to fill my trash with plastic bags when I can just use reusable bags and not worry about it.

Hey bro, they have this cool thing where you can gather all your plastic bags and turn them in so they're reused. It's called "recycling" and it's all the rage!

We're too lazy to recycle. We just clog our trash cans with those bags.

, I’m bouncing up to Wyoming soon to escape the Californication of this state.
I have family in CO looking to get out too. They say the taxes have gotten out of control. They are not fans of the pot laws either. Claim their area is overrun with panhandlers and “dope heads”. ?? They are looking to move to Utah.

You have to do this in Cali too I think. My Mom lives there. I pray for her daily. Living in that hell hole of immoral evil has got to take a toll

It's amazing to me how people complain about living in a place that others want to move to. My hometown would kill for a Californian or 2 to show up with money and job skills.

I'm one of the evil voting liberals that invaded so I don't mind the rising home values and great quality of life that we have here.

They sound really crotchety-old. "over-run by dope heads?"

I would be like the good Samaritan guy you see putting change in parking meters, only I'd be handing out plastic bags at the grocer stores and telling Colorado, "Come at me, bro!"

I miss the paper bags and recycling glass bottles back in the day.

Ohh we know,
It's called gentrification.
Its also been deemed racist by the left.
