can you imagine how much money the government will recoup if suddenly all cash is gone? trump is a business man. if you don't think that he realizes that the government can make billions of dollars if cash doesn't exist. no more paying cash for shite to avoid taxes.

Surely, you're not serious?
People are hoarding physical money due to the crisis. Isn't that obvious?

Treasury was also shut down for a while, halted the printing presses and the mint.

two things at play here:
With the shut down of buisness due to covid there is less cash being used so less cash in circulation
second your statement is total horse shite and has no factual basis

I do not believe there is a coin or cash shortage. This is an attempt to force us to rely on all digital currency for more centralized control.
Now who would want that?

I wonder how some of you function on a daily basis.

do you have any idea how much tax money trump is missing out on? it's unprecedented . the country could begin it's debt climb rapidly if there was no cash in circulation. it would climb out of debt faster than anything we've ever seen before. you know "from the likes of which has never been seen" and shite.

My President only cares about me putting cash in my pockets

Where did they go? Did they just evaporate? Are we pulling that much old coin/currency out of circulation that a disruption in production of new coin/currency causes shortages? Maybe, but I kind of doubt it. It is in a vault somewhere.

Will gov't attempt what Modi did in India awhile back? Joe Salerno on Mises has written extensively on the gov't's war on cash.

There's no less cash in circulation today as there was 6 months ago or even a year ago. It's all still out there if not more, it's just not being circulated as it normally would throughout the banking system. People and banks are sitting on stockpiles of cash.

Who here actually carries cash, anyway? And if you do, are you my dad?
I rarely, I mean, almost never, have cash on me. Usually I have zero. Sometimes I might have a couple bucks.
Once people realize how awesome tap to pay, apple pay, etc, really are... I can see a lot of people not turning back.

coin shortage
There is no coin shortage. Go to the casino and cash out, if you are lucky enough to cash out, there are plenty of coins in those machines.
