TPA is human and cannot completely avoid college football

While watching programming today, there was unified messaging on multiple stations almost simultaneously regarding “unity” and “finding a voice”

Shortly thereafter, the game I was viewing began discussing the impact of early departures to the NFL and opting out this year

The irony was not lost on me

These same athletes will:

Sit out bowl games (to protect their draft status)
Opt out of a season (under the blanket of Covid)

Completely selfish behavior that is undermining their teammates (of many races/creeds)
I understand the rationale (but apparently money and status overrides virtue to some in certain circumstances )

Interesting to follow the careers of some who have exercised these options historically...

Unity seems to only be applied when convenient to them

When the real world hits some of these folks (with self serving actions based on money and status the driver for much decision making, not racism in the strictest sense) they seem to exhibit profound cognitive dissonance

At this point I feel like I'm the only person left who promised to quit watching college football, and still hasn't watched college football.

The NFL and NBA were actually quite easy to walk away from. LSU wouldn't have been, but thankfully they were the ones that walked away from me. And without LSU to cheer for, idgaf about any of it.

ETA:

Not to distract from your post though, TPA.

You're a solid thinker with the capacity for rational abstract thought, and your analysis in this subject is spot on.

The hypocrisy of neo-liberalistic logic knows absolutely no boundaries. In the greater picture, their logic and actions are only hurting themselves, and when it bites them in the arse they will still only blame conservatives and President Trump.

Hey now! I NEVER promised to stop watching college football! (But after watching the LSU/Missouri game today, I wish I had.)

fwiw, I haven't watched a second of college football, the NFL, MLB, NBA, or any other sport this year. I really wish that more people would do the same, so that these entitled frickers can start feeling the pain...especially the pros.

Watched CFB for the first time today. All was well in the UF/Aggy game until this BS was brought up. Switched to the LSU/Mizzou game and not even five minutes later they showed the Mizzou players in BLM gear during warmups and of course, had to promote the narrative. That was it. No more CFB for me.

Someone mentioned we have no self control and you are correct. I stand guilty as charged. Granted I've done a great job of boycotting most businesses that have caved to the mob but I naively thought the dust had settled in CFB and it was safe to return - especially after hearing the NBA was over the bullshite - but I was wrong. Major kudos to those of you who haven't watched a snap this year. But I still refuse to spend a penny on anything CFB related nor will I make the mistake of watching this trash again.

It is because people have no self control. It is an epidemic in this country.

I seriously feel liberated, Dale. I feel a fall weekend freedom that I've never known.

I've had time to put bass and crappie fillets into the freezer the last few weekends, and it's just awesome.

The only color that matters to these people is green.

Do we really believe a black man is thinking, man it sucks to be a black man when he's running for a td in his paid for everything life?

Preachers shouldn't talk politics from the pulpit and sports commentators shouldn't talk politics from the booth. Simple as that.
