There was a line in the movie "Rudy" that is quite memorable to me.
The old wise priest says to Rudy, paraphrasing:
After all the theological training I have undergone, I have it boiled down to two things:
There IS a God and I'm not Him.

The central event in Christianity is the Resurrection. The central theme is love.

It's the time of year when all athiests insist on poo poo-ing everything...moreso than usual.

Unfortunately I've seen a ton of progressive "Christian leaders" saying things like "what is Easter if not a parable of persecution and power structures"
It's pretty disgusting.

Why can't people just worship in peace and let each man choose?
Even Jesus taught through love and kindness. He did not force his view on anyone.

As St. Paul says, we preach Christ crucified. A perfect encapsulation of the Gospel in two words: Christ crucified.
The title "Christ" implies the entirety of the divine economy of salvation, pointing to the Father, of whom Christ is the "perfect image," and carrying with it the Holy Spirit, who is the "Spirit of Christ." And placing the crucifixion of this Christ as the central image roots our redemption in the saving acts of God first prophesied and then accomplished in history. In Fr. Florovsky's words, "The whole life of Christ was one great act of love and mercy..." (and here we must also bring to mind not only the Incarnation but also the reign of the ascended Jesus as High Priest and Head of His Body, the Church, and also His Second Coming). But, Fr. Florovsky continues, "the act of salvation was consummated and completed on Calvary, not on Mount Tabor."

So? He still didn't force anyone to believe in Him. Just said "there is no way to God but through me."
He is an extension of God. I don't care if someone is a Satanist. Believe what you want to.

The central theme is the empty tomb

Then why is the cross the symbol of the church?
The cross, without Jesus on it, is meant to represent the Resurrection of Jesus. The cross is empty because Jesus has risen.

Remember there were thieves also crucified on either side of Jesus. But they're still dead. One in Paradise, one in Hell.
Yes His crucifixion was important. He had to die to rise again. But had He not rose again, we're still eternally doomed. Because who else could die for our sins, save one who did not have to die for his own?

All Christians are called to point out that we all fall short and require the salvation that a Christ provides. We can’t compel anyone to believe the message of the Gospel, but we are not supposed to remain silent, either.

The sacrifice of the crucifixion.
Chirst choosing the path of a long and painful death to save people of their sin is what Christianity should be about. Sacrificing the self for others.
Catholics get this right.

1) People can believe what they wish. It's Christians' call to spread the gospel. Obviously we can't make anyone do anything.
2) I was referring to people using Christianity to spread "religions" that aren't Christianity.

Correct. That's the only reason we know about the crucifixion of a Jewish carpenter 2000 years ago.

The central theme of Christianity revolves around teaching us how we should live... and that is probably best explained in the Sermon on the Mount.
Among the most notable features of the Sermon on the Mount are Jesus' interpretation/re-interpetation of the Ten Commandments (an emphasis to be truly virtuous as opposed to merely legally in the right) and the blueprint of how to pray in The Lord's Prayer. Another way the sermon could be summed up is to say that we should: 1) Love the Lord with all our heart, and 2) Love our neighbors (that is, everyone) as we love ourselves.
That is the simple heart of Christianity, and we all fail to live up to the message of the Sermon on the Mount to various degrees.
In contrast to our failings, the crucifixion is the culminating example of Jesus' awareness and ability to live up to his own teachings... It was a demonstration of his ability to walk the walk after talking the talk; enduring torture and punishment, yet asking God to forgive those who wronged him: both the active participants who crucified him and the mean-spirited people in the crowd who jeered him through this process. While this might be the climax of the story of Jesus, it still points back to the message of the Sermon on the Mount.
The Resurrection would not be the central theme; instead, it seems to express the idea of the reward / endgame... if we can live up to the central message of how to live.
This is-- of course-- my opinion.
