CBS: Kids are 30% more obese than a generation ago because of, you guessed it…

I can believe the Frank Stallone end before the climate change end.

When I was a kid we were outside every day from 930/1000 am until almost 530/600 during the summer. Of course we really did not have video games or cable TV....until 9th grade. We ran the streets and sometimes we were playing street football under the streetlights.

They are kind of on point. Let me explain.

There is no doubt that CO2 concentration in the atmosphere has increased the last few decades. Why that happened is debatable. On a geologic scale the earth is still near all time low CO2 concentration.

One thing that “scientists” are slow to tell you is that during times on earth when the CO2 concentrations were ten times now the earth had an explosion of life.

As CO2 concentrations increase we are seeing a corresponding “greening” on earth. Why? CO2 is plant food.

Because plants (and crops) are more easily grown that has led to an abundance of food and nutrition. Thus, more fat people.

I also believe their are other contributing factors such as sedentary lifestyles and probability the biggest contributor, the invention of high fructose corn syrup in the 1980s.

If I could press a button that would make all video games inoperable, I would push it in a second. When I look at my old team pics from Little League, Biddy basketball etc, the fattest kid would be the skinniest on todays teams.

My mom could not feed us enough to keep up with the calories we burned.

Exactly!

We played outside nearly all day.
All seasons.
All sports.
Basketball, street hockey, baseball, football.

I never see kids playing anymore.
