I’m pro capitalist and generally against government overreach and handouts.

I also think parts of capitalism is failing in America. There are true honest Americans struggling yet giant companies are still finding ways to increase profits and give executives raises while their low level employees are falling into poverty.

I think the real issue is that the American economy is more and more controlled by a limited number of giant corporations which can essentially act the same way an oppressive government would act. True capitalism isn’t an economy run by a dozen mega corporations.

Look up multinational corporations and the WEF. What you just described is exactly that.

Don't confuse free market capitalism with cronie capitalism. What we have now isn't free market capitalism at all.

Correct. You can also do some research on the riots of 2020 and see how many of these conglomerates bought up the real estate from the mom and pops after they were burned down. Capitalism, but with a twist.

As I get more concerned about conserving the natural / wild world I get more skeptical of pure capitalism’s ability to co-exist with nature.

People don’t give a shite.

Large corporations naturally have an advantage over small businesses due to scale, but any advantages small businesses might have over corporations are crushed by overbearing government regulations.

The problem isn't capitalism. It's government policy.

It stopped being capitalism when the banks were bailed out in 2008. Capitalism doesn’t have a govt backstop.

We have a bastardized system that the elites tweak to their advantage at every turn and the only group who ever pays the price is middle America

The people that benefit the most from our system dont give 2 shits about the rest of American. They couldnt care less what an average American does or what their struggles are. They own penthouses in NYC, a beach front property in the Cayman Islands, and villa on a grape farm in Italy or France.

Places like Little Rock, Arkansas are invisible to them. Just a number on a screen.

Conversely, that $5 million bonus a CEO receives if it were spread out equally among the 30,000 employees would equal $166 to each employee which amounts to basically jack shite.

This is not due to capitalism it’s due to govt policies and regulations

Small businesses can’t afford to comply with ridiculous regs like big corps can

Oh in that case totally makes sense to give the CEO of a company that is losing money a $5 million raise and refuse to give average employees a raise

Wealth envy and classism is a necessary evil in a capitalistic civilization. Try harder.

monopolies should never be allowed to exist

I'm free market like crazy, but I've grown up with free market people who defend monopolies "if they arise from the free market", and that's just lunacy.

I feel like people get bogged down in the capitalism v socialism thing over and over. I think most of us would agree that socialism/communism is not sustainable. But, whatever we have right now in the U.S. is a fractional reserve, debt-based, infinite growth pyramid scheme. That works when energy and related costs are cheap. Not so much when they are expensive. Sundance/CTH says our system abusers are engineering collapse.
