I haven’t had a problem with anything that has happened so far, but just in general if we keep going tit for tat. Has a conflict ever been won from the air without nukes?

What’s the long game here

I think that’s all we would need.

Depends on what you call a win. If it's killing Iranians, then yeah.

Japan bent the knee with just a couple bombs.

I don’t want to define it. I guess the point is... what is the best possible outcome from only an air campaign.

I mean if we had the stomach for it, some navy subs, destroyers, and naval pilots could destroy that entire country in about two weeks. And I mean the whole landmass smoldering.

We did a lot of that during the first Gulf War. Seemed to be pretty effective. The easiest war I've ever been a part of.

Yes so long as you don't plan on nation-building or trying to remake the country in America's image. That was always the mistake in Iraq. F Iran. They are not a formidable power in any way.

Airpower is and will always be an enabler to ground power.

We could frick them up bad enough from the air that they would be essentially neutered, and that would be the ideal endgame. No need for regime change. Just render them harmless.

Regime change would eventually require ground troops I would think, ala Iraq. Nobody wants that crap.

It depends. What are you trying to accomplish?

We could completely decimate Iran’s infrastructure back to the 1600’s without ever setting foot on their soil. It we typically don’t do that.

Right. And 10 years later we were back there on the ground.

My point is this half arse war shite typically results in more problems spread out over a longer period. Either wipe these motherfrickers out and completely neuter them ala Japan or just get the frick out
