Two governor elections and a Democrat wins - every major city in LA are lead by a mayor with socialistic values.

Isn’t there going to be a super majority for republicans in both the House and Senate? Maybe Rispone was just a bad candidate?

I think that’s based on the fact that the majority of Louisianians fell for Trump’s snake oil salesman act... Thank goodness most of them didnt fall for Ris-phony.

That act increased jobs in every state in America except for the one that just re-elected a democrat governor

Of course Louisiana is a red state, and there is no reason for those of us who are Republicans to fret. There are two reasons why John Bel Edwards has been reelected governor: (1) none of the big gun Republican candidates decided to get into the race, and Eddie Rispone is a weak candidate; and (2) Edwards is a moderately-liberal candidate who is both pro-life and supportive of gun rights. Had Edwards held standard Democratic positions on abortion and gun rights, even a weak candidate like Rispone would have won the election. Had one of the Republican big guns (e.g., Scalise, Kennedy) decided to fun, we would be talking about a new Republican governor.

Edwards won four years ago only because the Republican candidate self-destructed; four years ago any reasonable Republican candidate would have defeated Edwards, even with his pro-life and gun rights positions. Frankly, the same thing happened in Alabama, where Doug Jones was elected to the U.S. Senate because the Republican candidate (Roy Moore) was dragged down by the terrible baggage he brought to the race. In Alabama there are some big Republican guns running against Jones, and I expect him to be defeated when he runs for reelection. But that did not happen this time in Louisiana, and a weak candidate like Rispone didn't have what it takes to put together the strong Republican coalition that a stronger Republican candidate would have been able to put together.

The bottom line is that when we put forth even an average Republican candidate against even a moderate Democratic candidate, we will win by a big margin. Rispone was not that candidate.

Honest working folk have been outnumbered I guess. It was bound to happen one day. Just keep paying your taxes.

"republicans"

Basically people who pander for votes in their districts yet vote against their constituents. Why? Because they get money from the plantiff attorney cabal that runs this state.

I'm sure Gordon McKernan and Morris Bart are doing lines off a hookers arse right now.

It looks like there was a lot of African-American turnout, which helped Edwards. Guess they were worried about losing those welfare checks.

Exactly. If anyone wonders how JBE won, refer them to this post.

Heck, even the Washington crazy liberals pulled support from him because he wasn’t left enough.

Not that i would have voted for them, but, seriously, why didnt one of those guys run? It seems that if you look at the last 25 years, with Dubya and Clinton getting elected POTUS, being governor is one of the best paths to higher office.. kinda surprised none of the (R) heavy hitters ran.

Its literally the only way you keep the top students in state.

I went out of state for Grad School and they waivered my out of state tuition.

If tops didn’t pretty much cover all of my undergrad expenses, 0% chance I would have stayed here and went to undergrad.
