Whats the truth behind this?

Did he actually say burn stuff down or not?

I went to his page and its all him saying he didn't do anything wrong.

The question: What did he say to spark all the backlash against him?

He was on stage and told everyone to start tearing shite down. They did.

He's an a-hole that got off because of the color of his skin.

I watched the video
From what I remember he said the statue was coming down
The mayor spoke, asked for a day to let the city do it, he agreed with mayor until crowd started booing him
He then caved to mob mentality & instigated what started going on
I don’t believe he personally set anything on fire but he was the “leader” & got people riled up

Well, the charges were dropped but he fricked up his 15 minutes of fame royally by being stupid in front of a crowd that later tore some shite up and tried to take a statue down...

He deserves to be working at McDonalds...

Jermaine ‘FunnyMaine’ Johnson charged with inciting a riot after Birmingham protests - AL.com
quote:

Johnson, who earlier had suggested to a crowd that the monument should be removed, told the crowd later that night that the mayor and his team deserved that time to get it done legally but he finished by saying, “But if that shite ain’t down by Tuesday morning, I will see you here at 12 Tuesday.”

quote:

“If you think I incited violence, you don’t think monuments like this and the policies behind it haven’t incited violence for decades, you just need to think again,’’ he said. “Y’all won’t be able to find not one video where I’m encouraging people to tear down our city. As a matter of fact, you’ll find just the opposite. I literally encouraged people to with a heart for Birmingham to not touch our city. Those are the videos you will find. You will not find Jermaine Johnson on any video encouraging looting of any building in Birmingham.”

Yeah I totally screwed up the OP.

I meant to write "Did he "say" to burn stuff down. Not did he burn stuff down.

I honestly don’t think he said anything about burning or fire
It was all about destroying the statue

He did not expect businesses to be set on fire but he did get the crowd worked up & that’s what led to them destroying the area

Yeah, but any reasonable person would expect collateral damage when you get a mob all worked up and ready to tear something down... especially given the events preceding the rally in other parts of the world...

I hate the charges were dropped but he is getting what he deserves for what he did...

Doesn't matter.

There is an Alabama law that protects monuments and statues.

MLKJ was a whore monger, does that mean his statues shouldn't be protected?

JJ broke the law and should be prosecuted as such.

He said that the rest of the country needed “to see Birmingham, the home of the Civil Rights Movement, tear some s*** down.”

Before the statue stuff, he spoke at a rally earlier that day where he literally said folks around the country are tearing stuff down and we need to tear something down too

What I’m not telling you to do is walk to Linn Park. I’m not telling you to walk to Linn Park after this rally. I’m not telling you to tear something down in Linn Park. That’s what I’m not telling you to do. I’m not telling you that I’m going to be over there after this rally. That’s what I’m not telling you to do because the law says I can’t tell you to do that.

And some other crap. He’s so innocent. frick that dude.
