Somewhat similar, both are Sunni muslims. ISIS wants to kill everyone not Sunni, they even kill Shia muslims. Taliban wants "invaders" out of Afghanistan. Historically they don't kill innocent civilians but if reports in Afghanistan our true, that's changed. They typically go after military personnel. ISIS causes terror, Taliban want to rule Afghanistan, and do so with an iron fist.

Historically, the Taliban has murdered anybody that has assisted the American soldiers in any way.
