California to mandate COVID-19 vaccine for school kids after FDA approval

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) on Friday announced that the state will mandate the COVID-19 vaccine for all students in school, once it is fully approved by the Food and Drug Administration.
Newsom said the mandate would begin with older children, age 12 and over, in grades 7-12. But it will not take effect right away, given that he is waiting until the FDA gives full approval to the vaccine in that age group, rather than the current emergency use authorization. The mandate could either begin in the January school term or in Fall of 2022, depending on when the FDA acts.
"I believe we will be the first state in America to move forward with this mandate and requirement, but I do not believe by any stretch of the imagination we will be the last state," Newsom told reporters at a press conference.

SAN FRANCISCO — In the first such action in the nation, Gov. Gavin Newsom issued a mandate Friday requiring all eligible public and private schoolchildren in California to be vaccinated against COVID-19, a policy the state expects to affect millions of students.

See why the 2nd amendment issue is so important now?

It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out. There are millions of conservatives in California, they’re outnumbered but I can’t imagine sane Parents taking this shite lying down.

I promise that I will not subject my son to this shite. No fricking chance. It is still way too early to know what the full side effects are. I’ve maintained from the very beginning that I’m at least a year away from entertaining the idea of getting it. They cannot rush this decision for full approval.

I have a strong feeling many Californian Parents feel the same way you do Fig.

You'd be 14 years too early for most vaccine trials.
But your choice.

No doubt about it. But I also know that there are a lot of republicans here that will cave. There are a ton of country club go along to get along types. They are afraid of economic and social repercussions if they don’t capitulate. What’s worse is that they don’t consider future ramifications. They assume that things will go back to normal but when has government ever given up power that it takes?
