Doctors in Northern California say they have seen more deaths from suicide than they’ve seen from the coronavirus during the pandemic.

“The numbers are unprecedented,” Dr. Mike deBoisblanc of John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, California, told ABC 7 News about the increase of suicide deaths adding that he’s seen a “year’s worth of suicides” in the last four weeks alone.

DeBoisblanc said he believes it’s time for California officials to end the stay-at-home order and let people back out into their communities.

"Personally, I think it's time," he said. "I think, originally, this was put in place to flatten the curve and to make sure hospitals have the resources to take care of COVID patients. We have the current resources to do that, and our other community health is suffering."

Fake news. I was harshly ridiculed a month ago for suggesting that in the end more people would commit suicide than legitimately die of the virus.

Deaths of despair is a real statistic. Those supporting and who have supported the #stayhome narrative have no fricking idea How many people they have hurt and how much damage they have caused.

Alcoholism
Drug abuse
Suicide
Missed cancer screenings
Missed cardiologist appointment

These will kill more than the virus.

To any scumbag who has ever advocated a shutdown, the blood is on your hands.

I’ve joked about needing meds but I’m almost tot he point of not joking.

I told a friend today that I just can’t imagine living where we are like China with the masks, where they want my name and number to cut my hair or to eat and all of them other crap.

People get sick. People die. It’s happened forever and will continue to do so. This crap needs to end.

I've made this claim to some liberals I debated a couple months ago, and got the same response you did. "That's completely ridiculous!"

This latest news is nothing to celebrate, but it unfortunately confirms what some of us predicted.

I said it and one of the resident assholes wanted a "ban bet".

Just because it will happen doesn't mean you will ever get reliable numbers because it does not fit the narrative.

I didn't know doctors saw suicide patients that often.

Folks attempting to commit suicide have a 4-5% success rate believe it or not. And EMT/Paramedics bring dead (or very soon to be dead) people into emergency departments. They aren’t calling deaths out in the field very often.
