I saw this on a show last week.
WOW!
Edit for the truth.....
Next edit:
Still seeing the left come to defend this. Even though the word "Religious" in the ordinance. Since the largest religion there is Christianity then it stands to reason... that's why.

California Couple Fined $300 for Holding Home Bible Studies
I saw this on a show last week.
quote:
The city of San Juan Capistrano, in Orange County, fined Charles and Stephanie Fromm $300 for having as many as 50 people assembled at their home twice a week, the Times reported. City officials also warned the couple that subsequent fines could increase if they continued to host the Bible studies without obtaining a special permit.
WOW!
Edit for the truth.....

Thank you left for helping prove a point. You all just stated the law was not against Christians. It does not say Christian, Bible Study, nor does it cover ever state.
How very hypocritical of you! Yet the EO that Trump signed and will sign again this week does not cover all of the Islamic countries and never states it is a Muslim ban. YET YOU HAVE LABELED IT AS SUCH.. You are either hypocrites or hate Christians. Which is it?

I know what red herring you're going to latch on to, but I'd like to open a bar in your neighborhood. Don't worry about permitting or zoning regulations, just let me open my bar next to your house.
Deal?
Deal?

Ummm...sounds like the issue is the number of people involved and that you need a permit for that many people assemblying on a regular basis? Not because its a Bible study.

yeah, the meetings are the target, not religion
they could have been having yoga classes and would still be a problem

They weren't fined for having a Bible study in their home.

A bar next to my house? Sounds great, no need to get an Uber to get home.

Odd. My ole lady is from SJC. Her parents make it seem like it's some Republican stronghold in a sea of liberals. Gonna ask her bout this

Reads more like the problem was the frequency and number of people attending, not that it was a bible study.
Jesus, this article is from 2011.

But how is that supposed to feed a persecution complex?

The ordinance stated more than 3 people. You have friends over for drinks? Ever? Ever thrown a party?

That's pretty weak, even for you. Guess that means the days of having 70-80 people at a family reunion at your house are a thing of the past eh?

True. The bar would have faced additional fines for not having a liquor license or business license, but other than that the city's issue with them would have been identical.

This is an old story, and the objection isn't the home Bible study. People in California do that all the time. The objection is to the amount of cars that are brought into a neighborhood zoned as residential.

Some place warm, a place where the beer flows like wine, where beautiful women instinctively flock like the Bible thumpers of San Juan Capistrano.

Don't buy land subject to zoning restrictions?
You guys love private property rights until you read the act of sale and realize you've acquiesced to an HOA or zoning restrictions.
