CABL Issue Survey of JBE and Abraham

Everyone who could vote in LA should really take a look and get informed.
JBE on the issues
Quick take: for budget stability, wants to increase teacher pay, invest in roads, not keen on changing the constitution. And Jindal was terrible.
Abraham on the issues
Quick take: Need to improve the economy, eliminate franchise tax and lower taxes overall, increase gas tax only after a bunch of other reforms, need to address pension reform, centralize sales tax collections, fix the constitution through amendments.
Great read for everyone. If you think I misrepresented something in my own summary please correct!

Also, I have no idea why Rispone didn't take the survey.

Seriously, good survey. Definitely a huge bitch move not to take it.

I don't care what any politician SAYS or promises. We can look at JBE's past resume. I say hard past on him again.
What he has done is enough for me to see
What he has done is enough for me to see

That's some funny stuff. He should've taken survey.

While I'm glad Abraham at least recognizes how screwed up the state constitution is, unlike JBE who apparently thinks it's just fine, a huge reason why it's so jacked up is all the amendments that have been added to it over 40+ years, most of which are for things that should be statutory rather than constitutional. Just blow it up and start over.
I'm also baffled why Rispone wouldn't take the survey and lay out his positions considering he has no prior political history for reference.

JBE sure was quick to trot out Bobby Jindal, but are people to dense to realize that Edwards supported most of Mowgli's budgets?
What I don't understand is how the legislature could repeal Stelly when it was a constitutional amendment. Why did it not require a vote of the people to end this program?

Rispone may mean well but I have been less than impressed by the accessibility of his campaign and the candidate himself.
Just take a look at his social media feeds on twitter and facebook and it's very low engird and the same cookie cutter stuff, posts very few pictures and it gets real obvious whoever he has handling his social media doesn't even try to mimic him on top of not being very responsive.
Compare and contrast that with Ralph Abraham who's very active on social media, constantly posts pictures of where he goes and who he's with, takes JBE to task for the crappy job he's done and he or whoever is running his account literally responds to a lot of comments on facebook whether it be thanking people of their declarations of support for him or questions or suggestions.
Goddamn it. Why does the first Louisiana gubernatorial candidate that supports a constitutional convention in decades have to be like this?

Damn. Why are you spending 10 mil of your own money, and then you do shite like this? CABL isn't LABI but it's not some far-left hatchet job, either.
Also, that line from JBL about LA having 5th lowest state/local tax burden? How recent is that? I now that used to be the case but I wasn't sure after the sales tax increases.

I have still never heard him say that. I have never heard him say anything state specific except that he supports vocation education. Whatever that mean s.

Pretty sure that is a 2016 ranking based on 2012 data.

If y'all can find more recent data, I would love to see it.
Would love if the media called him on such nonsense, but not going to hold my breath.

Here it is.

Only Rispone, a Baton Rouge businessman running for governor, wholeheartedly endorses the convention “to address structural changes in our constitution so we can be competitive when it comes to taxes, we can be competitive when it comes to education, we can take the shackles off our local government.”

I don't think it's nonsense according to the link I found.

So "Stelly" was really two parts. Part one was adding sales tax exemptions to the constitution (groceries, meds and residential utilities). Part two made up the lost revenue by increasing income tax by changing the brackets and eliminating the excess itemized deduction.
Part one is the constitutional part and it still exists.
Half of part two was eliminated under Blanco (but you never hear that). I think it was the brackets. And then the other half was eliminated under Jindal (who opposed it initially, but then jumped on board at the end).
So the repeal was really only a half repeal. We added some enormous exemptions to the constitution and then cut income tax. This combined with the 2009 recession and falling revenue from Katrina lead Jindal to use a ton of budget gimmicks along with some cuts to keep the budget running.

Read your link:

To identify the states with the highest and lowest tax burdens, 24/7 Wall St. reviewed state and local tax burdens as a share of state residents’ income in fiscal 2012 provided by tax policy think tank Tax Foundation.
You think JBE should be able to claim credit for low taxes in 2012???

After watching his commercials and the fact that he is not participating in an issues survey makes me think that he is the most politically inept person in history or a democratic plant.
