UNANIMOUS vote

quote:

The Louisiana Senate on Monday unanimously approved a bill that would ban food sellers from labeling their products things like veggie "meat" or "cauliflower rice," a proposal pushed by agriculture interests.

quote:

"Far too long the issue has gone unchecked," he said. "Broccoli is not rice. Cell cultures are not meat. And certainly tofu burgers are not meat."

FAR TOO LONG

quote:

Thompson was backed by state Agriculture Commissioner Mike Strain and representatives from the rice and cattle industries when he introduced his bill in the committee he chairs last week.

He also has a bill on behalf of the dairy industry that would target products like almond milk and soy milk, though the Plant Based Foods Association said that bill would not have any practical impacts, as it relies on the federal government to make changes.

first they came for the cauliflower rice, and i said nothing, because i ate good ole Acadiana-grown rice

then, they came for the almond milk, and i said nothing because i enjoy Kleinpeter milk

then, they came for tigerdroppings, because it didn't actually revolve around shite. and there was nobody left

But they'll say without hesitation that one can have a biologically female penis

This just seems like this was entirely unnecessary. I actually get the meat thing much more than the rice and milk, especially since people, you know, label it as cauliflower rice and almond milk. It says so right on the fricking packages what it’s made of.

My wife’s been substituting cauliflower for rice recently. It’s actually really good.

Next bill up will be to ban kitchen instruments that claim to be "ricers" and forcing them to change the label to "food extruders"

It’s not bad. My wife made the switch a few years ago but I just like regular white rice more

i don't like cauliflower rice as a substitute for rice but i can make some good side dishes with it

i have gotten pretty good at making a cauliflower mash that's a solid substitute for potatoes, however

She’s exactly the kind of person this law was made to stop. That nonsense went on for way too long. I wish it was retroactive and people like your wife could be locked up today.

In this world of men being women and women being men, why can't a cauliflower call itself rice?

This is proof that we could cut the already part time legislative season in half

Or make them put a disclaimer on it.

*"Will not change another type of food into actual rice."
