I just watched it with my wife and I told her that I think it would sound 100% better had her band backed up 5'. That drum and trombone were blaring in the mic and it made it much worse. I don't think it was a bad vision, just poor sound engineered.

Just because a noise comes out of the end of an instrument does not mean that it is music. Yes, I do indeed know a bit about music. I'm not so sure about those who were attempting to perform the national anthem.

I missed it but guessing it was sung by a local inner city product

Nobody but high school bands should ever be featured for the National Anthem.

I agree

And the ultimate best versions are when military bands and singers do it properly.

I think some peoples on this board are missing the point.

Watch it again.

I think she sang it straight.

The band played jazz

Once again

She sang it straight up

Didn't see it the first time - but yes, Military Bands should be allowed to play it also - especially for very formal occasions.

But NOLA deserves to have their cliche jazz theme for every damn thing

It’s so predictable at this point

Not a fan at all. The national anthem is sacred and that was a disgrace to it

Yea it wasn’t THAT bad but had that trying too hard touristy second line feel. Should’ve just let the sax baw shred while ole girl sang

Great description. Vocals were great, the rest just seemed a bit disjointed and arranged by an amateur.

There is also the POV that this is another example of America's traditions being eroded away, the sacred Anthem modified for a new generation, while past generations honored it's symbolism. I can't disagree with that, but when I listened to Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page do their renditions, I didn't have a problem with it.

Hendrix's version is well known. Page not as much. A little Dixie appended to it.

You do realize that music genre was founded in New Orleans right…

And some consider it America’s first musical culture creation…

But maybe Big Freda should’ve done a bounce rap version of it huh?

I’ve watched some of the finest military bands a singers perform at Saints games.

Lot of ignorance on this board.

That Carl Lewis version sent Charlie Steiner of Sportscenter into hysterics. Seriously, if you've never seen the video, look it up before you to go to bed tonight. It is golden
