It is so awesome how with a few words Joe Burrow was able to link Tiger Nation to those in need by reminding us all that our neighbor is our brother, or in this case Joe's neighbor in Ohio is our brother. Let us not forget however, that as we speak, thousands of others in Ohio and across this great nation will soon have their food assistance cut by actions taken by the current administration due to more restrictive work requirements. As I understand it in Joe's hometown employment is very hard to find, as is the case in so many towns across American, without the luck of simply having Joe as a neighbor. Do these down on their luck Americans not deserve the same humane treatment and concern when it comes to their food assistance as the "Burrow Brothers" we are celebrating today and pat ourselves on the back for helping out? Think about that the next time you complain about your "hard earned" money going to food assistance to "lazy people" not willing to work.....seems kind of a heartless and ill informed point of view now that Joe has enlightened us and shown us the way. Thanks Joe, you are truly a leader!

It is more Christian and more American to give of your own free will than be compelled to by big government.

Charity should be left to the people and communities. The govt welfare scam has run its course, change is necessary, even if it’s uncomfortable at first. Hunger is a good motivator

Yes, I love it when people volunteer, as they did in this case, to give charitable donations to help others. It is incredibly admirable and should be praised. What does that have to do with taking money from people and giving it to others via government force?

I know!
Isn't that great?!?

ETA: It's obvious you don't even know what the new "restrictions" are so let me help you out.

1) The new restrictions ONLY apply to "able bodied adults under the age of 50 who don't have any dependents."

Adults 50 years of age and older will not be affected. Adults with dependents will not be affected. So children will not be affected. Adults with health issues will not be affected.

2) Everyone will be eligible for food assistance for three months.

3) After the three months, able bodied adults between the ages of 18 and 49 with no dependents will be required to either have a job OR be in training for at least 20 hours a week which would help them find a job in order for them to continue to receive food assistance.

4) If unemployment in the area where the person lives is 20% higher than the national average, the person can be given an exemption from the work requirement in #3 above as administered by the state, not the federal government, where the person resides.

I agree with all of those requirements because none of them sound very onerous. Able bodied adults between 18 and 49 years of age without any dependents SHOULD be either working or learning skills to be able to work.
