I’ve long said, I have more in common with a black person from Los Angeles than I do with some butt ugly white woman from Michigan. Our music, our food and our literature in the Deep South is the result of a combination of black people and white people- and both kinds of people are southern people. Elvis is as Southern as Oprah and BOTH are American success stories. I’m proud of BOTH of them, even tho Oprah is annoying.

Nope, all unique culture of the South is from black people. White people just stole it, never created anything new. Don't you know that?

No.

Farm wives could cook. And in huge volumes when it was barn raising or harvest time.

*I did not pick up a love of sauerkraut from that side of the family. Hell, as a kid I'd leave the house whenever my mom made some.

They don’t understand the south and never will. Yet they sit in their ivory towers and spew hate toward the folks in the south.

They despise us because we’re different, and because we’re actually happy. Because we know how to smile and laugh. Because we’re not miserable to each other. Because we, don’t have hatred in our hearts.

I care. I don’t know what kind of family you grew up in, but in mine, food is a second religion.

We talk about what we’re gonna have for lunch while we’re having breakfast.

Food is an art. And it’s personal. And I’m not ceding another single cultural institution of mine to these fricking soulless communists. Not another. frick them. Let them go eat whatever the frick kimchi is. Leave my grandmother out of this.

Damn Wednesday, this kind of turned me on in a non-creepy-politard way.

Texas, Louisiana or Southern Belle accent?

I know a broad from LA that has been in WI for 20+ years and she still has a lot of the accent. Her family says she sounds like a northerner when she visits.

Lol ... I just realized who John T. Edge is. I have laughed at that guy for so long for being a liberal, queer douche.

He uses flowing language with lots of adjectives that go on forever and mean nothing. He goes around to the most tourist trap places in the South, and then raves about how good it is. The places that he went to in New Orleans for his show on SEC Network were garbage.

If anyone should be the definition of the “white ally” that this current generation of puritanical leftists are searching for, it should be this guy.

The guy is kind of goofy, but I’ve never seen him be overtly political.

He’s done more than almost any other individual in recent times to bring attention to southern food traditions, independent restaurants, and black-owned restaurants.

It should be a pretty big red flag if he’s getting forced out of an organization he helped create simply because he’s white.

The cultural Marxists will come for you eventually too, while you’re busy laughing at someone else’s misery.

He's not. His only problem is that he's White. That's literally their problem with him. He's done nothing wrong or offensive, he's made no poor choices, he's not been me-too'd, he's not said all lives matter... nothing. He's just... white.

That is a straight up declaration of war. We should oblige them.
