Of course that committee will be under new leadership.

Supreme Court paves the way for release of Trump's tax returns to a House panel

quote:

The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to block a request by the House Ways and Means Committee for former President Trump's tax returns. There were no noted dissents.

The decision likely means that the returns will be released to the Committee immediately, ending a multi-year legal battle.

Trump filed an emergency application at the Supreme Court on Oct. 31 to block the release of his tax information at least until the court considered whether it wanted to hear full argument on the issue. Trump similarly lost his case in the lower courts, most recently with a panel of the D.C. Court of Appeals ruling unanimously that the Committee's request for tax returns was constitutional.

Can't wait for them to realize he's been sandbagging on handing over squeaky clean tax returns only to have set a precedent that it's totally cool to go after former elected officials' tax/financial records.

You better believe there better be a fricking request for every Biden that ever walked the Earth issued in January 2023.

I admire your optimism. Would that I thought the same.

This is what I'm hoping for too. Destroy the left with their own rules seems to be a Trump style move.

I really do hate that we are losing our privacy rights though. Personal finances is definitely one of the top private matters.

He's been leading them down a path of action. So far we've set the precedent for raiding former POTUS on improperly-handled documents. Now we're getting the financial records/tax returns.

Not only everything they accused Trump of doing are they guilty of themselves, but everything they're doing to him will boomerang back on them 10X.

Again, I admire your optimism. I hope you are correct. Unfortunately, I don’t really see the likelihood of the enemy collapsing under the weight of rule of law and hypocrisy.

This would be funny as hell, but I'm skeptical that will be the case.

Now THIS is the far more important part. Once they do this, it will be impossible to get that genie back in the bottle. Dems may have just fricked themselves hard over a minor victory.

Ok so, presuming this baseless theory is true, what are the repercussions?

In all likelihood, a big fine, which he can afford, and will make the left look even more unhinged.

New Congress and new party in the House.I doubt if this ever sees the light of day unless the Democrats want a spectacle.

Remember the law says any citizen is subject to this request including politicians in office. Do they really want to up the ante?

If they had something on him, they would've used it by now. The man has been under constant scrutiny since coming down that escalator in 2015.

Again, if they had legit ammo, why didn't they use it?

Yep. I never thought I’d see the day where a conservative SCOTUS would allow it, but here we are.

What’s good for the goose….. let’s see Bidens. Or anyone who gets the Dem nomination for 2024.
