COUNTRY PARALYZED AS TRUCKERS GO ON STRIKE

GOVERNMENT THREATENS TO SEND IN ARMY

Brazil fuel protests: Drivers to clear roads over army threat

Highways around São Paulo have been blocked

The strike has brought the country to a standstill, with queues at petrol stations, airports running out of fuel and supermarket shelves empty.

Obviously more info in the link but a country the size of Brazil failing could have lots of refugees trying to escape...

Isn't this one of the countries leftists always tell us we're going to look like in 50 years like it's a good thing?

Can't wait.

Just goes to show that the suspension of logistical services for even a day or two can completely cripple an economy, whether it's from infrastructure destruction/failure, or from the refusal of labor from the 'boots on the ground'.

From reading between the lines, this appears to be due to the current government, which replaced an impeached one, getting rid of subsidies for gas prices.

Is this correct?

We already do. Large metro areas full of upper-class whites and lower-class blacks and mestizos and a chunk of the country thats 85%+ white.

Who was gleefully telling us here that's where China could now get their soy beans to 'stick it' to Trump on his trade negotiations?

The southern areas of the country are fairly okay.

reading between the lines

I believe the lines are a (maybe formerly maybe still) corrupt country is breaking apart as it tries to normalize itself. With that said it would take a lot more knowledge on the full dynamics of Brazil economic situation to read between the lines. Obviously when you switch economic systems there will be places that have to be ironed out before something "works."

But this seems to be the on the face of it catalyst:
"The state-owned oil company Petrobras adopted a pro-market policy of tracking international oil prices after President Michel Temer took office following the impeachment of Dilma Rousseff in 2016."

WildTchoupitoulas in response to me

To which I told him

quote:

Right, right. But production means jackshit if you can’t get it from the field to elevator to the port. When the weather turns bad down there it’s not unusual at all for one truck to take a week or two getting to the elevator. South America isn’t a bad place to buy from to supplement what you’re getting from the U.S. but to get all your beans from them, well I just hope they don’t have many vegetarians over there.

And shite, this gridlock is out on the freeway. Not even on the rough arse, falling apart, farm roads
