I’m on my phone and can’t tell exactly what the WaPo stated or accused the kid of. I’ve seen the photo, but I’m not sure of any accompanying text.
Just a slightly more sophisticcated version of ambulance chasers, 250 mil is absurd. They’ll never prove sufficient compensatory damages to combine with punitives to reach that amount. The kid is 16 years old. How has he been damaged economically or emotionally? I’m not saying that the Post didn’t overdo it’s coverage or that it didn’t have its own agenda, but give me a break.

Nick should put his actual MAGA hat that's in the video up for auction, signed
He would get a killing, then donate the money to a relevant charity the Dems hate

I know what the word means. I love that the gist of something can be defamatory

This likelihood this kid will get into a top tier college, given the current state of American academia, is severely diminished. Compare their earnings per year to one from a state university.

Obviously not.

So the substance of an article can’t be defamatory?

Every time the process server shows up to serve the papers, they need to have someone behind him blaring Enter Sandman

You should also look up how the concept of “gist” fits into defamation actions.

Substantial truth, or gist, is an affirmative defense to defamation. It’s for the Defendant to use.
