It is not only obesity that is a killer.

Cancer can be just as prolific as any other disease or infection.

Car crashes too. If you think about it, we need to get over our scared or over reacting culture.

We can’t go out because of XYZ.

We need to do this to help out this.

People need to step back and say I am an individual, I am not a member of a cult. I am not going to do something just because Jack on Facebook is doing it.

I may like something, it doesn’t mean everyone has to like it.

We need to end the lemming of our society because one day someone will come around and say let’s jump off the cliff and every behind him goes without even questioning the how and the why.

Pasta, rice, potatoes are all healthier than chips and much cheaper per ounce. Apples, bananas and beans are all cheap. Too bad none of those things are very good for you.

Yes, they are. Wanna have a debate with Chef Zach?

Pasta and potatoes are among the worst things you can eat if you're battling your weight. There's not a damn thing healthy about french fries, or even mashed potatoes, for that matter. They may not be up there with soda and candy, but they're sure as hell not good for you.

If you want to eat healthy, replace the potatoes and pasta with broccoli and carrots.

Well, let's break it down:

1. The wife and I eat pasta and potatoes. We're not 'battling our weight.' I'm 5-8, 148. She's 5-7, 118. We have not eaten French Fries in our 28 year marriage. We ate mashed potatoes once last winter. I'll make it again this winter.

2. Potatoes are a complex carbohydrate. You must have carbs to live. There are over 500 varieties although only a fraction are in the store. We use reds. I roast them leaving the skin on. Very small servings and only once a week max.

3. When people think of pasta they think Pizza. We haven't had a pizza since our marriage. Once a week I make a salad with romaine lettuce, cut up braised chicken breast and rainbow pasta twirls. I use olive oil and balsamic vinegar as the dressing. It lasts 3 days.

4. We use brown rice as the carb more than potatoes. It's great with stir fry veggies, usually with fish or shrimp in the mix.

Edit: I eat broccoli every day, an apple every day and carrots at least twice a week. All in small amounts.

Bruh. Whats it like to consistently have awful takes on everything.

You just defended the stance of purposely not openly telling the public the truth bc it would feel awkward. I dont get you people.

Speaking of small servings... long before this covid thing happened almost all the Asian all-you-can-eat buffets here shut down. I asked an owner and she said that fat people were coming in and staying for hours going back for refills.

I'm sure they thought eating Asian food is healthy. But not when you're eating enough for 5 people.

Both aren't bad for you at all in moderation although potatoes are healthier with more vitamins and minerals. A medium size potato only has 110 calories.Just gotta watch what you put on top of em.

Try mashed cauliflower if you want to avoid potatoes.Lower in calories and taste very good... better than mashed potatoes IMO.

Here's another thing while we're on eating advice.
The whole idea of 'eating 3 square meals a day' started in agricultural times when you really needed it for manual labor.
Today, 2 meals are enough. I do mid-morning and late afternoon. Never when waking up and never just before going to bed. Wife does the same thing.

8/16 diet is a little extreme but it certainly helped me lose weight quickly. Not on it anymore but I don't eat a thing past 6:00 pm during the week... little different on weekends.

The reason they say that is because with obesity normally comes the other comorbidities that put them at a higher risk.

Advanced age is by far the most important risk factor for COVID and obesity is negatively correlated with old age.

You can get frozen vegetables like cauliflower and broccoli pretty cheap. For snacks you can get healthier options like canned olives or pickles that isn’t very expensive. You can even get things like sardines that are healthy at a very low cost.

Yeah, you might not be able to afford gourmet foods, but let’s face it the people eating frozen TV dinners weren’t eating gourmet foods to begin with.

We eat too much and we eat the wrongs things. It’s pretty simple.
