Capitalism is not practiced in the USA. Monopolies are illegal in the USA. The govt has been promoting monopolies for decades.

The end stages of Capitalism in your quote should be the end stages of CORRUPTION!

We should invite him to explore them himself. Especially those in the swamp. Let him become BFF's with the alligators (though that might be cruelty to alligators).

I am guessing that he going to capitalize on the rainfall from hurricanes to manipulate the water supply.

Catahoula, Concordia, and Tensas mainly. Little bit in Avoylles but that may have sold. One of the big farms in Catahoula had a buyer looking at it in 2020 but the deal fell through. I sell about 90% of the chemical and fertilizer and almost all the corn seed that goes on it. It’s right next to one of our family farms.

For capitalism to work, those who buy and sell have to do so with moral purposes. We all know people like Bill Gates have nefarious purposes. Perhaps he doesn't with this particular land purchase but he more than likely does.

It's funny how libs when knowing their champions are up to no good all of a sudden pretend to support capitalism and country when it comes to their advantage to do so. All politics, all the time. The Democrat Party is an evil machine.

Oh yeah. Some of leased out to tenant farmers and some of it they have in production themselves. All of it precision leveled and irrigated and for the most part on one hell of a fertilizer program. I look for them to start leasing more of it out and probably try to sell more of it in the coming years. Like I said the big one next to us had buyers come in and look at it a couple of years ago.

You’re the one that mentioned politics first

From what I understand the guys that lease to farm also get to hunt it, and I think maybe some of it gets leased to duck hunt or the guys who work the production side of the operation may get to hunt it.

Sounds like just maybe a cleaver sort of investment hedge for someone who has more money than he knows what to do with.

I guess it's fun to dream of something much more sinister involved, though.

As long as you are paying taxes on what "you own", you really don't own it anyway. Don't pay your taxes for a few years and see who owns it then.

I mean there’s really nothing nefarious going here. Starting since soybean boom in the 70s and 80s big corporations have been investing in farmland. They’ll lease it out, farm it themselves, improve the land, throw money into it for tax purposes, and then turn around and sell it. Been happening for years. I bet that place next to us has been bought and sold 10 times since I was younger. The fact is all these farms are several different business entities in the hundreds that fall under the Gates umbrella for the purpose of moving money around. This is just the bean counters doing bean counter things.

Why? Land is a great investment... I would figure someone like Bill Gates would own a lot of land and other properties...

You don't just take all that money and stick it in a mattress or a CD at the bank...
