It is stupid to think that some government bureaucrat can decide what products have to be made in the USA and that somehow makes more products available.
Only idiots would want our government to make those kind of supply decisions.
3M is making masks in the USA AND in foreign plants. You want to say they can't bring in their production from these foreign plants now???
As far as the chemicals that go into medicine the solution to that lies in our government regulations and our tort environment. Fix that.
None of the big talkers here and in DC are calling for fixing our structural administrative laws and product liability laws that prevent investments in America.
You people want face masks only from the USA and you expect that US manufacturers will have on hand enough for some pandemic that suddenly appears?
Only idiots would want our government to make those kind of supply decisions.

National security interests trump business interests. Sorry. China is a national security risk and giving them access and control of our health system is an even greater national security risk.

Exactly - like - as a customer, the US determines the type of service it needs and to what level.
And if the US determines a certain percentage of US drug consumption must be domestically produced, they can either help fulfill that requirement, or someone else gladly will.

So the lopsided global economic strategy that we common folks have been screaming for years in not in the best interest for America is the same economic strategy these Corporatist want to preserve?
