I’ve received several emails from various Manufacturers that I purchase from.

NFA Restrictions are bullshite as is when it comes to short barrel rifles, but this is taking it to a whole other level of insanity. As usual, it will only affect law abiding citizens.

The ATF is back with another round of proposed rulings regarding pistol braced firearms. This proposed ruling will affect millions of gun owners across the country and is another attempt to control the gun community with little regard for the 2nd amendment. The ATF has created and proposed a 3 part worksheet that evaluates a firearm to determine whether or not it is considered a pistol or if it should be classified as an NFA item. See the worksheet here:

We could talk about this worksheet all day, but one of the most concerning parts of this whole thing is one of the first sentences on the top of the page. It reads "The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives reserve the right to preclude classification as a pistol with a "stabilizing braces" for any firearm that achieves an apparent qualifying score but is an attempt to make a "short-barreled rifle" and circumvent the GCA or NFA." So basically this whole worksheet is just smoke and mirrors and if passed, whether or not you are breaking the law is up to the discretion of a federal agent.

All I want to know is if the suit is filed yet. If there is no legal challenge, no use in bitching about it.

Why don’t you demand a lawsuit instead of quitting?

You pop 2 pins to swap uppers, just keep a 10.5 upper for when you need it. When you need it, the repercussions of an unregistered SBR will not seem so bad.

Didn’t say I was “quitting”. But sitting around talking about the elephant in the room doesn’t do a damn thing about the elephant in the room.
It’s still a frustrating thing that liberals already have the court picked out, the attorneys lined up, the palms greased, talking points delivered to the lapdog media, and the papers drawn up when stuff they don’t like is mentioned by republicans.
Republicans sit on their arse, gripe a little in committee, ask for donations to the campaign to “keep up the fight”, and wait for it to drop from the headlines and move on.
It’s fricken maddening.

How many murders were there last year where pistol braces were used? I bet Chicago has more in a single weekend.

Exactly. More folks were killed with hammers I would expect than AR pistols last year. ATF and liberals have a hard on for getting rid of this rifle platform.

I’m not sure that’s why they are doing it. They want it to fall under an ATF form 4 where you have to pay a 200 tax stamp.

Which will take millions of rifles out of circulation while waiting on that stamp. You can’t legally posses an nfa item until your paper work is cleared abs you have the stamp that currently takes 6+ months it may take over a year if the ATF has to process many millions more. Process now is you pay for said item, send off form with prints and check then wait wait and wait some more the. When Uncle Sam feels like getting off their arse you can go pick up your item. Now this item can only be used by you or people in your presence and there are extra steps necessary to take across state lines. Also when you die unless you have a trust with others named and vetted your heirs will have to surrender the weapons unless they want to become felons.

I know this, I have an NFA trust and lots of class 3 items. The Trust is the best way to go as you can add anyone to the trust and have beneficiaries lined up. The problem as you mentioned is the backlog.
However, as far as I know, I’ve never had a supporter of this explain how a short barrel rifle is deadlier than a standard 16” AR

Never made sense to me either. It is inherently less accurate has less muzzle velocity is louder and isn’t much easier to conceal than a standard 16” barreled carbine. Outside of room to room cqb it doesn’t have much going for it but I guess the gun grabbers need a boogeyman. Gang bangers prefer the draco pistol and I have a feeling very very few are used in shootings.

Gang bangers dont give a shite about the ATF or any of its regulations.
On a separate note, I believe that every single gun law on the books is unconstitutional. The 2nd amendment states that there are to be NO infringements on firearms. Any law that the government wishes to pass should have been by another amendment. Simply passing a federal law should not be able to circumvent a right assured to use by an Amendment.
That is just another example of our corrupt government.
