The Saudi’s told everyone there would be no oil deal weeks in advance. They told Europe a month ago they can’t increase production. This isn’t news to anyone.

They’re producing at capacity.
They’re getting it at a discount.
They don’t want it going anywhere else (such as the West) that might bring down oil prices for the largest oil consumers because they want to keep the prices high across the globe. Then they’ll sell it at a profit to the West and anyone else needing it.
To ingratiate themselves with their closer neighbors in Russia, and it’s new/old friend China, the dominant power in Asia.

Edit: And I believe if you factor in shale oil and offshore, the US has the largest oil reserves in the world. Yet we’re begging others for it.
Also consider that we were a net exporter of oil under Trump, and you’ll realize how far and how fast we’ve fallen in 1.5 years.

I don’t believe this administration really cares that iil prices are high. They appear to be doing their very best to give away as much money as they can to make prices go up as high as they can in order to achieve the “great reset“
