0This is big and could severely hurt a blue, Democrat Governor state like New Mexico who depends on oil & gas for its budget.

In the heart of the producing Permian acreage in New Mexico (Eddy & Lea County), I'd say something like 40% BLM (Bureau of Land Management), 35% State of NM and 25% private surface/minerals.
So yeah, their state's Democrat administration and legislature is going to have a hell of a time trying to fund it's public education system now. I thought Democrats were so concerned about the public school children??

I do think this (along with Keystone cancellation) shows this administrations adversity to oil and gas industry.
But this is limited to federal lands. I don’t think that’s as big of an issue. State and private lands aren’t impacted by this.
Edit: after reading response about Permian. Bigger impact than I would have assumed. Thanks for the info.

If you know anything about the Permian Basin, then you'd know this is a significant chunk of the Tier 1 acreage out there.
