Before everyone starts printing the Desantis 2024 signs remember this.

Trump has been in the lead taking all the bullets the Democrats can fire at him. They are so focused on damaging Trump and trying to finally kill his political career that guys like Ron Desantis have largely been left alone. How will Desantis hold up when he has to lead the pack and the Democrats turn the machine in his direction to grind him in to tiny little pieces. When the Dems come for him they will come to crush him. They will use the same dirty tactics they have with Trump to crush Desantis. It’s going to happen. When it does you will see Desantis become as toxic and Desantis will drop in popularity.
I know a lot of people hates Trump and Desantis looks great right now but just remember the Democrats hasn’t really even started on him yet. Desantis could be the next Sarah Palin. Everyone fell in love with her then after the Democrats got started they tore her apart and she never recovered. Just some food for thought.

Yep, and DeSantis doesn't take crap either. He's just more disciplined and more mature with his responses than Trump. He doesn't turn off people outside the media as much as Trump.

Ron DeSantis is much more aligned with being normal and he knows the law better than anyone he debates or needs to beat in anything.

Desantis is squeaky clean right now just like Palin was. The machine crushed her in a matter of a few weeks. That was playing by the old rules also. Desantis looks great right now because the National Dem machine has not payed much attention to him. When they start investigations on him and his family will he crack? It’s not about Trump being elected again. It’s will Desantis still be electable nationally after they get started on him and can he hold up to it?

Who have the Dems slobbered all over themselves at just of thought of nailing his arse to their wall Desantis or Trump? Trump has taken all the heat. Desantis has got in a scrape or two but has experienced nothing to the level Trump has. As soon as Trump is out of the way though Ron is on the hit list next and they will not hold back. He will have to take all the heat then. Will Ron still stand and can his background stand the deep scrutiny it will receive? They will try to tear him apart any way they can. Don’t kid yourself though thinking Desantis has taken the beating Trump has. I don’t care who you support nobody has taken the heat Trump has and that just being honest.

I know you think Trump is toxic now but OP does have a point. Desantis will be just as vilified as Trump if he is the front runner.
Look if we all dump Trump and unify behind Desantis then great, I’m on board. Love the guy and think he will be great. But we could also all unify and get behind trump again if he does run.
I know you say the moderates will never vote Trump. May be true. But If that’s the case, then once the Democrat machine builds there narrative of Desantis, they won’t vote for him either.

I dunno. I'm in the same boat. Look at everything they threw at Trump, Kavanaugh, Walker, etc. False sexual assault claims, paying for abortion claims, claiming racism, homophobia, xenophobia and every other phobia you can think of. You don't think Democrats will do the same to Desantis or any other R candidate they trot out there? It has to be a concern because you know it's coming
