Yes, he was also federal judge I’m pretty sure.
He was the first commissioner in baseball history. He was commissioner during the 1919 White Sox scandal. He came down hard on the game in regards to betting on baseball and there wasn’t a big scandal regarding gambling in the game until Pete Rose.
I’m so fricking sick and tired of this myopic view these idiots have taken on history. We have got to put our foot down collectively and stop this madness.

I think there was a law on the books as late as the 1990s in a small town in Mississippi (I forget the name) that mandated whenever a woman was operating a motor vehicle that two men on foot, one in front of car and one behind car, both carrying lanterns, had to accompany her to announce to everyone that a woman was on the road.
