Bannon's comments at CPAC were truly disturbing
quote:

Atop Trump’s agenda, Bannon said, was the “deconstruction of the administrative state” — meaning a system of taxes, regulations and trade pacts that the president and his advisers believe stymie economic growth and infringe upon one’s sovereignty. “If you look at these Cabinet nominees, they were selected for a reason, and that is deconstruction,” Bannon said. He posited that Trump’s announcement withdrawing from the Trans-Pacific Partnership was “one of the most pivotal moments in modern American history.”

When Bannon talks about dismantling the "Administrative state,” what he's really talking about is allowing corporations and industry the absolute right to do whatever they want, whenever and wherever they want, regardless of its harmful impact on American citizens.

The wholesale elimination of Federal agencies that ensure we receive such things as clean air, clean water, fair labor laws, fair housing standards, anti-discrimination laws, financial regulations, food and drug safety, national education standards, health care standards, etc.

Reasonable people would agree that some regulations are duplicative, outdated, or truly overly burdensome. The vast majority of us would agree that reducing that kind of burden on business is a worthwhile goal. Throwing the baby out with the bathwater, however, is an incredibly dangerous thing.

Man, you really read between the lines there and uncovered their true sinister intentions.

Does the left insist there is no waste in the federal government?

Also, why can there never been any common sense when it comes to cutting federal agencies? You can cut huge wasteful departments and reorganize their basic functions elsewhere. It's not as if abolishing the EPA would mean the US government completely ignores environmental issues. Closing the DoE doesn't mean Trump will close all the schools. It means that the agencies are inefficient, wasteful, and not doing a good job. Not that every single piece of their core mission is being cut. It's really not that difficult to understand.

Show me where he has discussed improving our bureaucracy? Tearing it all down isn't a solution. See obamacare.

Things have shifted too far to the left. They have to dismantle all the nonsense that has been put in place. If things get too unregulated then we can revisit it but overregulation has completely killed industries and they have gone to places where it isn't regulated and we see the neg impact that has had. So the regulations aren't always good for the american people.

It's like the individual states are incapable of handling these issues. I bet you'd like a global government to enforce all your standards on every other country too eh?

He's not talking about "tearing down" democracy. He's talking about tearing down the "administrative state", do you think they're the same? He's talking about the ingrained unelected bureaucrats of government that write regulation after regulation, oftentimes counterproductive and meaningless, to prove their existence.

He's talking about curtailing a system that allows bureaucrats with political agendas to do end runs around Constitutional legislative, executive, and judicial processes.

Also:

some kind of Freuidian slip?
