quote:

President Trump has told people in recent days that he regrets following some of son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner's political advice — including supporting criminal justice reform — and will stick closer to his own instincts, three people with direct knowledge of the president's thinking tell Axios.

Behind the scenes: One person who spoke with the president interpreted his thinking this way: "No more of Jared's woke s***." Another said Trump has indicated that following Kushner's advice has harmed him politically.

Why it matters: This could be the final straw for federal police reform legislation this year, and could usher in even more incendiary campaign tactics between now and November.

Details: The sources said the president has resolved to stick to his instincts and jettison any policies that go against them, including ambitious police reform.

There are worse things that he has followed Kushner's advice on.

Yesterday he was promoting him, and today he is distancing himself from Kush?

He needs to get Javanka away from the White House completely. They're both too out of touch with what the conservative populace cares about and wants. Too worried about attracting new voters who are never going to vote for Trump instead of placating the people who got them there in the first place.

Imagine being a Jared Kushner fan.

Just LOL.

That soy boy and Ivanka need to go back to New York or the Hamptons if they prefer.

this seems fake and probably opposite of reality

i mean

this sounds like a parody of how someone on the left would pretend Trump talks

the fact that they bring up criminal justice reform, too, is a clear indication they are just trying to "undo" anything good Trump has done.

On top of that, reasonable police form actually is something most Trump voters want anyway. IMO, stupid to turn his back on it now.

I do agree that giving Kushner any power at all is stupid.

Exactly, it was something that many people across the political spectrum liked.

Right.

Trump's base is white working class voters and low propensity voters. They are Trump's bread and butter, not a BLEXIT that will never happen.

This is a great tweet about that.

As I've repeated and wrote to the Trump campaign in 2017... there are 40.2 million non-college educated white voters who are not registered to vote. Had the campaign registered 10% of them, they could have told Hillary voters to pound sand and they would have been fine.

I don't believe Axios when they talk good about Kush and I don't believe Axios when the talk bad about Kush. Is everything they say fake news? No. I just have a hard time telling what is true and what is not from Axios. However if it is true that Trump is going to follow his instincts more going forward that is good news.

Because criminals are current rampaging our streets while homeowners have to stand in their lawn with guns drawn to be protected

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump
NYC is cutting Police $’s by ONE BILLION DOLLARS, and yet the @NYCMayor
is going to paint a big, expensive, yellow Black Lives Matter sign on Fifth Avenue, denigrating this luxury Avenue. This will further antagonize New York’s Finest, who LOVE New York & vividly remember the....

He’s doing a few things as I read this. Let it out though “Axios” as the buffer. Pushes back on Kusner. Lobs the potential for battle over police reform. He is setting up for defending law and order.
