I’ve never been a fan of Joe Manchin, or any elected official who tries to straddle parties. In the case of the filibuster I know Manchin is doing the right thing, because this is yet another instance of Dems trying to change the rules because the rules aren’t letting them win.

So when I see attacks on Manchin, like this one from Budowsky at The Hill, who lumps Manchin in with “enemies of democracy”, I have to remind myself that Manchin is defending a 215-year old Senate tradition.

Manchin will cave eventually because he will not be able to withstand the attacks. Don't depend on him to remain strong, he will find something to change his mind.

That’s right. If CRT wins, then everything we’ve built is based on racism and must be changed. This includes the constitution.

That’s the end game.

...that Dems have had no problem using whenever they needed it, and as recently as 2017.

It really is amazing that people can't grasp that this country was founded by white people and has around a 70% white population. There is nothing racist about catering to white people because they are the majority. It's just basic economics. I would imagine if I were to go to Mexico, most things are catered to Hispanics and if I go to Africa things would be catered to black people. 17% will never be equal to 70% no matter how hard our government tries to make it that way.

A Marxist hallmark is projection, or assignment of one's own faults to the opponent. i.e., “enemies of democracy”

That was defended by no other than Barrack Obama when he was a senator.

Need to get some more right wing sugar daddies to pony up. Would also be nice if Sinema or Kelly came out against as well so he wasn't isolated.

That’s like claiming the 3/5 compromise was racist because it didn’t treat blacks as full citizens.

Pretty sure Sinema has publicly stated she will not vote to abolish the filibuster. Don't know about Kelly.

Remember this next time a democrat says "we need bipartisanship!!". Why are they celebrating Manchin's willingness to "compromise" and "reach across the aisle"?

When a RINO caves it's called "bipartisanship". When a democrat does it he's an "enemy of democracy".

This is a great example of why republicans should NEVER compormise with democrats. Ever. They are dishonest.

Any chance the continued pressure might eventually cause him to change parties? I realize he is getting pressure from the Dems but I am sure he is getting pressure from WV.

Was it racism in 2017, when Democratic senators wrote a letter to keep it?
