I like how they went from "not" being paid at all to being incredibly overpaid.

You football fans have only yourselves to blame if you keep watching and supporting it.

I dunno...

A) if you can do no tax on tips or overtime why not NIL

B) IF it were to work, and that's a big if, in the net it may actually generate more tax revenue. Especially if you include ancillary businesses.

Every State is doing it. NIL is a shitshow. Has to be done. Don’t hate the player. Hate the game.

"Change"?

Sure. "Strip mine" would have been more accurate but change is technically accurate I guess.

No other SEC school should have an advantage over Alabama Football. There are a lot of things to get upset about but this isn't one of them.

They already don’t tax scholarship money…but I think that’s nation wide. That’s only like $35k/yr though.

NIL was bound to absolutely ruin college sports. Most of us predicted this.

I'm glad that LSU went woke during the summer of love riots, and forced me to cancel my fandom of college football before all the NIL shite made things even worse.

Well, with proposals like this, it's certainly only going to KEEP making things worse.

You know, schools you follow winning championships is very memorable, but it doesn’t actually change your life. The older I get the less I understand this obsession to be honest.

Neither does Texas but that applies to everyone, not just high paid athletes.

Let's abolish state income taxes completely instead.

Oh so as an everyday joe... or as a millionaire living in Alabama, they should just shut up about how they have to pay taxes but not players.

This is complete BS. This bill wouldn't increase the number of roster spots, so you would have the same amount of student athletes. If you want to increase the number of students, then you need to make college more affordable. If you want to do that through reducing state income tax revenue, then you need to exempt students that are working there way through college working retail, service industry, and other low paying jobs.

Does Alabama still require people that leave the state to go to college to pay state income tax on their out of state earnings?

How about getting rid of all income taxes and then all jobs can compete with Tennessee and not just one handpicked profession?

Yep. Politicians are very short sighted. They think men and women working to make a living are ok with paying taxes while college kids probably making more don’t for “recruiting edge”.

I said it when it popped up for GA and I'll say it again, this shite is retarded. frick anyone and everyone that supports it. Level the playing field for everyone. Catching/throwing a ball shouldn't exempt you from taxes. Cite all the "CFB is great for (insert college town here) economy!" you want. It doesn't matter.

That makes too much sense. Odds are these athletes won't be drafted to teams in the same state they play college ball in. You're literally subsidizing kids to go out of state. Athletes wanna make money? Fine. Have at it. Pay up like Jim at the plant does.

Due to NIL, I have been tenuously hanging on to college football hoping some sanity would prevail.
If this passes it would end all that.

We have to compete with those states that don't have income tax like Florida. They make it up with high property taxes but these kids don't own any property. So, I like this bill.
