There is a quiet movement among "ordinary" gay men and, probably, some of the lesbians. It was quite some time back, but Dave Rubin was of the sentiment that the Ls, Gs and Bs needed to start distancing themselves from the Ts. He felt (rightly, I thought) that much of the goodwill from folks who were hesitant (or supported/defended traditional definitions of marriage), but ultimately accepted the "loss" on that point would be squandered by an extreme push on the "men in women's sports", transitioning children, etc., and they would all be lumped in together.

But, your broader point is probably valid. Just as it is the "moderate, peaceful Muslims" are irrelevant when they do not work to oppose or stop the violent radicals, the same is going to be viewed with these "mainstream" LGBT groups defending the indefensible.

And others, like the brilliant Douglas Murray says, "I don't have to resign from the LGBT 'community' because I was never a member. I just happen to be a gay man." TERFs and even Camille Paglia (technically transgender by her own admission, affirmation) are vehemently against the current transgenderism wave and have been, despite their historical opposition to more traditional values.

There is a reasonably diverse coalition forming against the extremes of this. This wave of recent trans-related terror acts is bolstering this coalition, IMHO.
