PHOENIX – An elected official in Arizona, in his private-sector career as an adoption attorney, arranged for 28 pregnant women from the Republic of the Marshall Islands to travel to Arizona to place their children for adoption over the past four years, authorities said Wednesday.
It is illegal for Marshallese women to travel to the United States for the purpose of adoption.
It's also illegal to scam Arizona's Medicaid system, which state Attorney General Mark Brnovich alleges Maricopa County Assessor Paul Petersen did when he helped these women illegally access state-funded medical benefits to the tune of $814,000.
Petersen and a co-defendant, Lynwood Jennet, were indicted in Arizona Monday on 29 counts of fraudulent schemes and three counts of conspiracy, theft and forgery.

Can someone explain this to me.
Is there a particular U.S. law that specifically bars Marshallese women from traveling to the US for adoption purposes?
Is it a Marshall Island law?
Is it illegal for any foreign woman to come to the U.S. for “adoption purposes”? If so, why?

No, it seems someone from the right started a thread calling out a GOP member for a crime. You had to bring his party affiliation to the conversation, to which someone responded that people of the right hold their politicians accountable.
