Im surprised home improvement isn't higher. The Home Depot near me has been a mob scene every day.

Is this more a function of people not going anywhere?

Because a whole lot of workers actually have more disposable income on UE than they did while working

Shutting down “all nonessentials” has an inordinate impact on some retailers? fricking shocker.

While it is good for people to save, the US is a consumer based economy which that will hurt the overall numbers.

Wouldn’t count on that one.

Most appliances at stores like Walmart and Sam’s are fairly scare, likely because people got the big bailout checks. This includes huge TVs.

I work for a company that services 300k businesses across the US with visibility to their non cash sales.

Our overall sales were down roughly that much in April.

For reference, we are now only down 14% May MTD.

Yes and a lot of this money isn’t being spent. Consumer spending behavior is tightening and there’s nothing money printing can do to change that right now.

What is truly bizarre (not really) is that MSM is simultaneously screaming “unemployment!” & “depression!” while also screaming “we can not open up, it is too dangerous!”.

Walmart got competitors for shite in 2/3rds of their stores shut down (2/3 of their floor space)

They are doing okay - double shocker

Probably more from 30+ million losing their jobs and millions more conserving spending due to fear that they'll be next.

bullshite

They were the logical step in the development of logistics post the "I got yo go to 5 piddly little stores" era of running errands."

Now Amazon is the next step.

If it wasn't Walmart it would have been someone else.
