Not terribly unusual. States I’ve lived in have called it in less time than that for Republicans.

Like anything else these days, if they say it happened, then it must be so.
If they don't mention it, it never happened.

That’s generous considering how they called Arizona last year.

I had Fox on because I hadn't changed the channel. They were talking about what a great victory for Elder...even though the "results" weren't even close. Just as bad was the unquestioning acceptance of the results from an electoral system ripe for abuse and fraud. I had to turn it off. Symbolic victory my arse.

What a big surprise. I never believed anyone other than Newsom had a chance anyway. There was to many Republican candidates running and dividing the vote for one. California votes mainly by mail in ballots and until that voting process is either stopped or undergoes some major reforms then I don’t know if Republicans can win another election in a blue or purple state. You get the government you elect though and if the people of California like stepping over needles and big piles of shite walking down the street then I hope they get huge piles of both. Electing Larry Elder would not have changed the direction the state is going but it would have stopped the bleeding and kept it from going further off the tracks. If California really likes human shite and drug needles all over the streets then I say give them more of it and later when it gets so bad they want to move then make them stay in California. No need to have them move to another state and mess it up because they wanna vote Democrat.

Northern California isn’t beating out San Francisco, Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Diego, and Oakland.

It’s just borderline impossible.

Most white democrats don't experience these things.

They live in the suburbs and in gated communities far away from all that, and send their kids to private schools so they don't deal with public education.

They make enough money to where the poor democrat economic choices don't really affect them. Inflation or high gas prices don't matter when you make enough money. So they can afford to vote on their emotions instead of their pocketbook or quality of life issues like homelessness - they vote on what makes them feel good.

The people who would have voted out Newsome already moved out. Those who are still in CA are fine with democrat rule.

I experienced many of these white professional class democrats when I lived in California. Their political viewpoints are directly correlated to social desirability.

It wasn’t just the rich or the high end of the middle class that voted for Newsom. This election wasn’t even close. Newsom had to pick up a lot of votes from people that is living paycheck to paycheck. People that live on government assistance has probably voted Democrat for years and years. That’s not a surprise. For this recall to be defeated by such a wide margin though tells you that Newsom had to pick up votes from across the economic scale. Most people that has any sense by now should have left California a long time ago. At the very least the people left in California that vote Republican or do not believe in the direction the state is heading in should be making plans to leave ASAP!!! The one question that this election answered is that California is lost. I don’t think there is any hope left to save it. If the homeless, fire, water, power, and crime problems are not bad enough to make people want to change leadership now then I doubt at this point the people of California will ever throw the bums out. California is a total loss to the Democrats.

The margin will shrink over the coming days/weeks... they just counted the pro Newsome votes first for narrative engineering purposes.

Ultimately I think the final margin will be between 13-15 points. Still a double digit win, but not as big as his gubernatorial victory.

What the media/Team Newsome did over the last 6 weeks was pour a ton of money into the state and scare the shite out of voters there. They ran on the COVID fear campaign, saying that if Newsome is recalled, then COVID will kill everyone. That was their strategy. And it works. Fear is the biggest motivator.

Once Elder was the front runner, I knew the deal was sealed. No disrespect because I like him. I just don’t think the list of Republican candidates were strong enough to pull this off.

Rich Baris had been talking about this for the last few months. He said that Newsome isn't that popular in California(by democrat standards) but Republicans Party is such a toxic brand in California that even those who would be in favor of dumping Newsome would crawl over broken glass to keep him before allowing a Republican to take his place.

That is the main issue the recall campaign was up against. It was going to be impossible to thread that needle. Was Newsome hated by Californians compared to the average democrat? Yes. But many of those who hated Newsome wanted to replace him with another democrat, not a Republican.

Meh our must-win elections are coming up in 2022 and 2024. Very very last chance and we’ve got to win both of them.

Well where was all these parents that was supposed to be pissed that California might shut down the schools again and do virtual learning only. Where was all these people that was supposed to be pissed about these lockdowns California has. All you seen was people from California mad about this or that on the news. The recall finally gets here and Newsom not only is not recalled he skated through the recall. I think a lot of these Democrats that was mad about schools or lockdowns and other Covid restrictions probably chickened out at the moment of truth and voted to keep Newsom in office. They will complain the loudest though when Newsom closes the schools or locks the state down the next time Covid spikes. I will have no sympathy for them this time. People from California knows what this man is about. He is a horrible Governor. You get the Government you elect . I have no sympathy for the people of California anymore after this. They could have sent the government a message. They could have stopped the bleeding and removed Newsom. Instead they chose to put him back in office so I just don’t want to hear any complaints from California anymore. I know that’s kinda cold but the people of California wanted Newsom so they got him as far as I’m concerned.
