All of my firearms have serial numbers, and I have multiple that could not be traced to me even if you put every law enforcement officer on the planet on it.
Private transactions are a thing and are perfectly legal. Some firearms go through multiple transactions with zero paperwork. I've even bought firearms from garage sales.
This may not be the case for this firearm, but some firearms absolutely cannot be traced no matter the resources involved.

There are still ways to track a burner, but you have to really have the authorities after you. Not something that can really be done at the local level, but the FEDS are a different story.

Yeah, there is no way they have all the info and close up pics and dont know who he is. His DNA is going to be all over the stairwell and buildi g too.

Yup, they can check every tower that phone pinged off of, they can find the shop it came from.
They can find phones that co-pinged off the same set of towers at the same time.
Unless this dude never had the burner on at home, or at the same time as his normal phone, they will absolutely nail him.

I believe they know who it is and are digging deeper into whether this was a lone wolf or coordinated, and how deep it goes and who was involved.

You are correct of course depending on how the burner was used.
The libs seem to be learning and improving on their tactics. This one seems to have studied how his predecessors were caught.
That is the real danger here. The more success they have the more of the mentally unstable drones will continue to try and they will get harder to catch.

Doesn't even have to be used. Only need it to have been turned on at the time of the shooting even if it was never used once.
