What I find odd is most of the masons I've met in Alabama/Georgia were black - granted many of these were in majority minority or half and half cities.

Not calling you a liar or anything, I just find that interesting considering what your bros said and knowing I've met many who were black.

They aren't F&AM they are Prince Hall Masons and through 2010 at least not recognized by any lodge in the US as " true masons". This could have changed since 2010 as that was the most recent interaction I've had. It was 1987 when I pledged the blue lodge. Strangely enough a Hispanic who was also very catholic went through the three degrees with me and Catholics are almost as verboten as Black folks....that's why there is a knights of Columbus.....

Understood. I didn't realize there were different Masonic groups as I always thought basically a mason was a mason. It's very interesting though. I've only done minimal research but always assumed masons were predominantly black because of my encounters with the many Prince Hall masons throughout the deep south.

Am a Mason. No, politics has no bearing on freemasonry or vice-versa.

Prince Hall Masons are recognized by some grand lodges and not by others. The Grand Lodge of Alabama does not recognize Prince Hall Masonry. I am a 5th Generation freemason, and I was taught that Prince Hall Masons were not Masons because they were not evolved from a recognized lodge, regardless of their skin color. There are many clandestine lodges that are not recognized as true Masons. In order to be recognized as a true lodge, that lodge must be recognized by the Grand Lodge of the state.

As I know all the rites and regalia, I could go out tomorrow and start my own lodge. I could confer all my knowledge on people and convince them that they were Masons, but they wouldn't be. If my lodge was not chartered and recognized as a true lodge, none of the people I made into "Masons" would withstand the scrutiny of other true Masons. They could know all the rites and possess all the pins, rings, ties,etc... They still would not be Masons, and I would no longer be one because I broke my oath.

Being a mason supersedes all politics. You are a brother above all, political affiliation does not matter. They influence & are members of both political parties. There are a lot of masons, but the low levels are not given the true masonic secrets. They do not reveal who they truly worship as the supreme being until you reach the upper levels. There are many writers that have exposed the masons for what they truly are. My grandfather was a mason & when he died, my grandmother burned all his masonic stuff because they do not worship the Christian God.

I will not argue with you, but there are a few points that you miss. 1) Masonry is not a religion. It does not supersede a member's faith. Masonry does not offer salvation. 2) Masonry involves NO politics. 3) There are many writers that have exposed Bigfoot, space aliens, the Loch Ness Monster, and tons of other hoaxes to sell books. 4) Most Masons here and in Europe do worship Christ.
