Illinois Goodwill cuts paychecks as state implements new $15 minimum wage

You know what consistently depresses wages more than almost anything else? Illegal Immigration.
Illegal immigration hurts the working poor more than any other class. There are studies published that in some urban areas, by halving illegal immigration, you could put $65 to $130 EXTRA PER WEEK in the pockets of the working poor, just in increased wages!!

The "we must pay everyone a LIVING wage" idea has all but killed the odd job economy, which for better or worse did a lot to help sustain a lot of folks on the margins of society. I believe it's played a huge part in the EXPLOSION of panhandlers you seem to now see basically everywhere, which you did not see at all really 10 years or so ago.

The problem with this line of thinking is to undo the damage will take a decade. Now you'll add new folks to the government dole which costs your state even more in the long run.

To be perfectly honest, there’s an awful lot of jobs that aren’t worth paying $15 an hour, no matter what the libs claim.
