Amazing how far these people will go to appeal to a minuscule part of their customer base. No shite, how many women do they think buy this game? I can't imagine it's more than a few thousand at best

Ocean's 8 was an OK movie, for what it is.

I didn't go to it expecting cinematic excellence, but it was above average and worth seeing.

I also didn't get an anti-male vibe from it.

Women don’t work like that. It’s just a preposterous scenario.

The previous battlefield game (battlefield 1) was set in WWI and had count blackula on the cover if anyone remembers. However, they seemed to have really upped the tumblr cat lady levels in this game, featuring handicapped women and katana wielding steampunks in a WWII European theatre of war.

Although this refers to gamers across all genres, I was surprised to see how small the sex gap is and it's closed quickly.

Distribution of computer and video gamers in the United States from 2006 to 2018, by gender

It's gone from 62% male and 38% female in 2006 to 55% male and 45% female currently..

Now this is from over a year ago, but tactical shooters (4%) and first-person shooters (7.2%) are among the least preferred gaming genres; however, it also means that it has the most growth potential. So females are quickly gaining market share, it does make sense to at least try to tap into that market share.

Beyond 50/50: Breaking Down The Percentage of Female Gamers by Genre

So if it's purely to appease some SJWer mentality, then that's stupid. But of they honestly see a business growth opportunity, then that is at least reasonable justification especially since the data support the potential.

Want to appeal to women while staying in reality? Add women as an option on the Soviet side if it exists.

The Soviets has female snipers and partisans out of necessity in places like Stalingrad.

I’m pretty skeptical of those figures about women gamers because I’m pretty sure it includes mobile and Facebook games which honestly aren’t really the same thing.

While there are hardcore female gamers, they’re fairly few and far between.

Most of the ones I know would fall into “casual gamer” status though I know a few who are/were hardcore into WOW.

The best way to figure this out would probably be to track what they are spending money on.

Sports games like NBA, Madden, FIFA, etc will be overwhelmingly male.

Fantasy will likely see a bigger skew toward parity.

FPS games, especially ones built around historic eras like WWII, probably skew heavily male.

No problem with creating a video game with female main characters. Hell, most of the Final Fantasy games had female leads for 20+ years and they were extremely popular games.

But if you're trying to create a game with an authentic and realistic World War 2 setting, then female combatants with robotic arms aren't accurate to that setting at all. Of course you're going to get blowback from a Battlefield fanbase that's been used to getting highly realistic BF games.

Then insulting the consumers is doubling down on stupidity. For a game with such a huge production budget and that's one of EA's most valuable franchises, it doesn't seem wise to ignore realism in favor of SJW nonsense that'll alienate more fans than it actually appeals to. But then again, Disney went the same way with Star Wars.
