Another California school district axes honors classes in the name of equity

Another woke school district goes full ree-tard.
quote:
Parents in a California school district are protesting the high school for cutting honors classes in the name of racial equity.
Culver City High School’s decision was made because “teachers looked at their AP enrollment and realized black and brown kids were not there,” according to Quoc Tran, the superintendent of 6,900-student Culver City Unified School District, the Wall Street Journal reports.
“They felt obligated to do something,” Tran added.
quote:
Culver City’s cuts were precipitated when a group of English teachers at the school presented data to the school board that showed black and Hispanic students were underrepresented in honors classes.
The teachers also presented anonymous quotes by non-honors students who said they “felt less motivated or successful” because they weren’t included in the classes that emphasized motivation and success.
Consequently, the school cut freshman and sophomore honors classes in English to ensure students are taught with what the Journal calls “an equal level of rigor,” even if an equal level now means a lesser level.

Perhaps the parent(s) of black and brown children should place more value on their children’s education and black and brown children should study harder.

Culver City was the home of MGM studio. When Clark Gable killed a guy driving drunk MGM made sure tCC cops covered it up.
Also Laurel and Hardy worked at CC's Hal Roach studios

You only hate the word because it has been highjacked. Equity use to mean equal outcomes for EQUAL WORK. So if you put in more work you get a better outcome, put in less work, your outcome isn't as good.
Now they want it to mean no matter the work you put in everyone gets the same outcome and that is just stealing from the intelligent kids. There is no reason to teach everyone at the same level, as someone who was in gifted from an early age, taking a standard level course was just down right tortuously boring.

This would never happen in my son's district. Clovis Unified is bad arse. We've got 28 AP classes for this year and countless UC honors and CSU system classes. Trades are still taught here. It's amazing. Leave it to the rest of Cali to screw it up.

The goal is not equity but to prevent kids from becoming as smart as possible. They NEED as many useful idiots as possible to implement the agenda

Those classes are for high achievers.
Maybe instead of killing the classes, the schools and their feeders can start being more rigorous in educating those kids who aren’t making the cut.

Two things:
First, punishing the high achievers is never going to do anything for the low achievers. The smart/motivated kids will still get As and the rest will get their normal grades.
Second, this is a tacit admission that the teachers of the non-AP classes are not giving their kids their best. Light their asses up and make them do their actual jobs or tell them to GTFO.
After all, if black lives matter, shouldn't the schools be doing everything they can to get those kids to learn and do the work?

This is some straight up bullshite. Not the kids but the teachers. I 100% guarantee the teachers provide less support and motivation to non-honors classes. And the reason why is because there are always a handful of shits that disparage the teachers in those courses. Take care of those shits and non-honors courses will be motivating and promote success.

Why not add an honors class for Black & Brown students?
Or just replace the regular English class teachers with teachers who actually give a damn and know how to motivate their students.

The same superintendent also does not believe in expelling students who start fights:
Parents angered over violent student fights at Culver City schools

quote:
Eyewitness News was there as parents confronted Culver City Unified School District Superintendent Quoc Tran. Tran got an earful from parents who demanded something be done about the fights on campus.
He was apologetic that the parents' frustration boiled over, resulting in the protest.
"The district regrets so much that it got to this point where our parents' sense of safety for their children is compromised," Tran said to reporters. "For that I apologize. It's a big regret on our part."

I live in #7 on this list and I live in the most conservative area of that metro, one of the most conservative places in this whole country, which is why L.A. and much of California hates us. I love it.
