And...just like that...the legitimacy of the Court is now in question

Ruling overturning Roe v. Wade sparks debate about Supreme Court's legitimacy amid partisan passions
I wonder if this story/opinion piece would have been published if Dobbs turned out differently?
quote:
In December, as the Supreme Court debated whether to overturn Roe v. Wade, Associate Justice Sonia Sotomayor posed a dire warning in the form of a question: How would the nation's highest court, she asked, "survive the stench" of the abortion ruling if it appeared the justices were engaging in politics.
Sotomayor, the most outspoken liberal on the court, said she wasn't sure it could.
Public approval of the Supreme Court was already falling, and the decision last week to overturn its 1973 precedent and wipe away the constitutional right to abortion amplified skepticism of the court among those who support reproductive rights. For those who oppose abortion, the decision fixed a colossal, decades-old mistake.
Though not unexpected, given the unprecedented leak of a draft opinion in May, the 6-3 ruling to uphold a Mississippi ban on most abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy prompted protests over the weekend and sharp recriminations from Democrats.
"This court has lost legitimacy," Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., said Sunday on ABC's "This Week." "They have burned whatever legitimacy they may still have had after their gun decision, after their voting decision, after their union decision. They just took the last of it and set a torch to it with the Roe versus Wade opinion."

They impeached Trump for saying a lot less...
This rhetoric is truly irresponsible
I strongly dislike this woman...she is evil filth
she should go start her own country and try living under the regime she wants....
good luck!

This is insurrection. It’s an attempt to prevent the orderly conduct of government services.
Haul them in, stick them in solitary, deny their rights and forget about them.

No indeed not! The impeachment of Trump over Jan 6 was at least reasonable. There is absolutely nothing in what Warren said that is impeachable.

Now, this is true.
quote:Me too, but she is at least funny, with her claims of Indian ancestry.
I strongly dislike this woman

There is only one court, currently in recess, that should be in question and it resides in DC and is chaired by a soulless count from SF

That is (d)ifferent, guys.
It is quite simple. The Left in this country cares not for the institutions or the process or Constitution. They simply focus on outcomes only and in this particular case they do not like the outcome, there bad and illegitimate blah blah blah.
This is very dangerous rhetoric.
These idiots had 50 fricking years to get an amendment passed and they did nothing but sit on their asses and use this issue as a scare tactic to drum up votes.
There is a process if you want abortion rights, it is called pass an amendment you braindead morons.

.@AOC says Kavanaugh, Barrett, and Thomas committed impeachable offenses, " I believe lying under oath is an impeachable offense and violating federal law and not disclosing income from political organizations as Clarence Thomas did is also potentially an impeachable offense."
"It doesn’t matter if the Senate won’t vote to convict. Holding these justices accountable would be the purpose. The Supreme Court is out of control, and it is time for the Legislative Branch to put a check on the highest court in the land."
We have a responsibility to protect our democracy. That includes holding those in power who violate the law accountable.
Without it, rule of law can slip through our hands like sand through loose fingers.
The President & Dem leaders can no longer get away with familiar tactics of “committees” and “studies” to avoid tackling our crises head-on anymore:
- Restrain judicial review
- Open clinics on federal lands
- Court expansion
- Expand Fed access/awareness of pill abortions
- etc

Something tells me this is purely political from AOC and the calls for this would not be there had the decision come down that she likes...
These people have no principles or ethics.

Prominent Democrats are declaring the SCOTUS illegitimate... The DOJ, and even the Pentagon, have vowed to ignore the rulings.
For all the "Jan 6 insurrection" truther libs on the board; If walking around in the Capital is an attempt to overthrow the Government, what is this?

The president has lost legitimacy, but yet, he’s still there.
